Abby looked at the layout of the small town, grimacing a little in sipping her whiskey, letting the burn of the alcohol on her tongue to slowly take its a course down her throat. Two of her boys where dead, taking in the news of the new wolf pack that had moved into the town less than two months ago it had seemed. Bicker, for the most part, had stayed off their maps, only holding a few of those demons in the mix of humans.
What made this news make her grin was the Luna of this pack was the daughter of one of the top Alpha's in the USA at this time. Getting their hands on her would give them more power, killing her would be a blow even more to those beasts! Any hunter's clan to kill an Alpha or Luna also brought in the money from the Church connections in big bills.
"They will know we are coming, even I have to say those things have a good line of communication in this day and age. "Abby thought, making a red dot for the two main ways into the town and a blue for any ride streets or trailers.
Concern lined her mind in making an attack plan, not wanting to drag in the poor souls of the town. Thier intell let them know the wolves had a packed house a bit away from the town, making this attack easier to plan. What was the wild card was it seems a warlock had made an alliance with the pack and the standing supernaturals also in the last few days. More also the vampire that "claimed" the town as his own had once been a major player in the Seven Clans.
"This could also let us cleanse the area in a sweep...." Abby's one good eye looked over the list of the names and address of the sinful creatures. Her blood burning, ready to do her god-full duty in the name of the hunt. "We will be ready in a matter of two to three days...."
It had been her oldest daughter, Zelda that had talked her out of heading out in a blind rage. Let things settle and get the info and make a plan that would work. Her daughter thought like her and once Abby stepped down, would take her place as leader of the Saw family.
"This is my last hunt, I feel it in my bones," Abby spoke, once more sipping her whiskey down. A drop escaping down her chin, over a shallow white scar as she only smiled greedily. "What a hunt it shall be in our Lord's name...."
Conner sat down on the steps of his home, glad to be back home after the long hours of talking and planning at the Evergreen pack house. Much had happened in the last few days with meeting with the others of Bicker and forming a plan of when the Saw Clan would make their moves on the town. Brier had called her father and a few other packs, knowing some of them would send wolves to help and keep their facts as fresh as they could to make the plan ready for anything.
Nolan had called his family, having them send him some supplies and a few books his way so he could help out in the magic part. Already setting up a number of wards around the town that would act like a signal if any of the hunters popped up in the town. The three solo witches also adding in layers of protection magics with Sky, their local Druid around Bicker.
Denis, the vampire could only promise his help in the battle and a few of his many weapons. Portaling with the wolves and keeping an eye on the cameras they had placed around the town as added back up. Vampires only needed a few hours of sleep, so he could keep an eye on that branch of things.
So yeah, they were ready as they might be. Just now was the waiting part that cast a thick layer of tension in the town, unseen but felt. "Glad I got away for the night...."
Or he had thought as the rumble of a jeep and flash of red caught his eyes in the dying light of the summer sun. Frowning in a deep breath, Brier's jeep pulled up to his truck. Her halo of purple hair flashing in his eyes and the tightness of her shoulders showing she was not happy about something once more. Maybe him?
Opening her door, the Luna of the Evergreen pack was a mix of emotions in seeing the dark-haired man, one hand holding a Budlight can and his blue eyes locked on her, even when sipping the thing.
"Conner, why did you leave the pack house?" Brier growled, striding up to the man. Her wolf pacing in her eyes from the anger of his leaving her side. "
He signed, knowing this would come up. "I needed to spend some time home Brier, and a little space. I'm not used to being around a lot of people at the same time."
Huffing, "And it is also unsafe to be alone even more with the hunters coming to Conner. Being alone makes you an easy mark for them, and given you don't....."
"Shift is what you are saying makes me sound helpless Luna Brier. "He shot back, his voice laced in a low heated anger. "I know how to use a gun and defend myself pretty good enough and I know these woods even better than you, don't forget that at any time."
Brier looked at the ground, blushing a pink on her cheekbones from his blunt answer. Conner's not shifting had come up a few times, even her own father had asked about him. Wanting to meet the boy he had known to be a grown man now. All the supernaturals who lived in Bicker knew what Conner was, and felt the subject alone. In the werewolf world, it was a sore issue and it was coming up more and more it seemed with him around and their growing prelateship.
A Luna with a un-shifted did not look good in other wolves eyes, even her father had slightly pointed that out. Abel's talk with her yesterday flashed in her mind while they had set up a few cameras in the woods outside their house...
Abel held the thing in place, while Brier pushed in the nails with a small hammer. Rachal's idea for the cameras was a good one and the pack had moved to make it happen in hours of the morning meeting. Nolan once more back, books in hand and in the back, taking to his mom and sisters about spells and other things. Conner with Lucky was in cooking duty, the smell of BBQed pork ribs and hamburgers.
"Just about done! You can let go Abel!" she smiled, glad the task was done and wanted some food!
"Brier, I need to ask you something my Luna." Abel deep voice held no sway of emotions, more a point to be made in this conversation. " What are going to do about Conner after this event is done?"
Freezing, the young woman took a moment to glance at the enforcer in his question. "What do you mean?"
Shaking his head, "He has to join our pack or he had to leave. There no other options for him at this point. And most packs wouldn't even think about letting a unshift on their lands in the first place. "
Feeling a knot in her stomach in the way of this talk was going. "Abel, he was here first, and he is helping and becoming an ally with us. Lone wolves have been known to make an alliance with a pack on serval examples. "
"Yes, he was but given his father was also an Alpha brings shame on his family name in choosing not to be a shift. It shows weakness in him and even in us we let him stay in any form as a new pack without joining us fully." Abel hated to do this, but Brier had to shape up as a Luna. "And I can not also point out you have a bound with this man. As a Luna, you have to pick wisely who you choose to be with Brier. "
Anger filled her eyes, turning a molten copper as her wolf growled in her soul at Abel talking to her like this! "You would have me run his out of his home after fighting for it with us and the others of Bicker? Only by giving the man two choices?"
"Yes"
Brier closed her mouth, his smokey eyes right into her's in his answer and mind working. Brier growled, knowing she had lost her grounds for this fight and had only walked away back to the house. Abel keeping away, for now, knowing he had done the right thing for his Luna and pack.
Now she stood in front of Conner, guilt raging in her soul in knowing Abel's reasoning made sense. "Conner I...."
All talk was seized by the ringing of both their cells in the man grabbing his in one word, "Yes?"
She watched as his body tensed, dropping the half bottle to the grass in Nolan's voice seemed harsh over the cell. He looked at her, eyes wide and glowing as his wolf shone, "The Saw clan is less than two hours from us!"
Note: Gah! The Saw clan is about ready to attack! Ok, I wanted to show a bit of depth in how some wolves might look at a person not choosing to shift and a bit of info on that branch of things. Abel acted as that voice with Brier to make this point to her. Thanks for the reads and votes!
