Brier kept her gaze on Rachal, her slim back now covered by a light black jean jacket. Most of the evening had been the Evergreen pack now making plans on how they would move and act with hunters now looking for wolves. Even to how they would fight and make sure the humans would stay away and safe. Every shifter knew the Saw family really didn't care if they killed humans, just as long as they killed the target.
So why was Rachal now leaving, without a pack member to act as her shadow? She had left her cell phone at the bar and they had not put on the security system to keep the place protected in case someone came to break in.
"I don't think you should leave alone Rach, why not take Sunny?" Brier asked, feeling her wolf pace in unease of everything happening.
Rachal, for the most part, took a breath, looking at Alpha and friend. Her gaze steel like, "You know I can handle things better, and given how upset everyone else is? The moment they get one more dose of upsetting, they're going to wolf out on the spot Brier. I'm the only one in control enough to do this. We put to much hard work into the bar and my cell could carry info on it leading to us, I can't take that chance as a Beta to this pack."
For a moment, the air grew tensed as Brier let her Alpahaness reach out, testing and trying to get the Beta to submit to her, their aura's clashing in a fight. It was only less than 50 heart beats, but Brier pulled back. Feeling the stone wall she had hit in those heartbeats and Rachal keeping her eyes locked on her Alpha for those moments.
"You got 30 minutes, and then if not, I'm coming to get you myself, understand Beta?" She growled, her eyes shining in the emotions boiling over.
Nodding, Rachal showed the underside of her neck to her Luna and was out the door in a breath as she started her green truck to head back to Bricker and the bar. Brier only signed and let her back come to lean on the brick wall of her Den. Rachal was right in how strong the other members of the pack now hummed in the air. It was the job as a Luna to calm them down, to take away some of their worries! How much could she do, given how tense her own body was in the news of the hunters and their attacks like this?
Also Conner? How strange it was the boy killed shared a name with the man who was driving her wild! "I'll call him tomorrow, tell him we had a death family...just keep my pack safe goddess," Brier whispered, feeling her body numb and only now counting the moments till Rachal made it home.
Nolan held his six back of Budweiser, still reeling from the call he had gotten from his mom. He had tried to call Conner nearly three times, it all going to voice mail. So the warlock gave it a night to rest and would drown his mind in beer to a numbing point for at least a few hours. Beings like him could get only a slight buzz with normal beer, so this would just get the edge off a wee bit.
Walking outside, the air was cool in the night. Stars played peek a boo with the whisper of small clouds now cast in the sky above him. Nolan only took a yawn, trying to fight the inch on his left hand, which made him stop.
An itch?
"Someone's using witch magic!" He thought, pulling off his sunglasses as his eyes light up in trying to find the magic so close.
There, in a rusty old brown ford, he saw the neon green of a crystal as two men seemed to be talking to the other. Narrowing his eyes, the tuck started up in a whine of the motor as the seem to hit the gas in a take-off worthy of an action movie down the road, down to the bar owned by a new local wolf pack.
Not thinking, he ran to his silver Kia and turned on the car in also speeding a bit to follow. Nolen knew those were hunters, using a charm that would glow certain colors when supernatural came in a distance for it to react as he had just seen a few hearts beats ago. A member of the wolf pack was in town and those scum would go after them. Given the most who came to the bar, it could be one of the two.
"Rachal!"
Her aura, a mix of deep golden hues that danced with a deeper silverish white hit his mind. Why the fuck was she coming to town? Alone on top of things? He hit the gas pedal as his Kia jumped the gun to fly down the main road as the truck had parked in the ally by the bar. Rachal's car had been slammed, the passenger door caved in as the front end of the truck was smashed. The hunters had used the thing to stop and trap the wolf, to kill or capture.
His anger rose, as crimson sparks flashed over his hands. Nolen parked his car, not even cutting off the engine as the sounds of men talking and the click of a shotgun echoed from the around the corner. Rachal's aura was glowing, sweirlds of red from anger and pain lanced and pull him to her even more.
Running the warlock found the two men, guns ready and aimmed at Rachal. Blood from a gash on over her left eye brow dripped down, her eyes full of fury in a green hue, glowing as she had pulled back her lips, fangs now showing in her mouth as her hands had shifted to blacken ash claws in her somewhat human hands, she was bending forward a little, feet apart and ready to move if she got the chance.
Rachal only for the moment could watch these hunters, her body sore and healing from the car crash. Worry filled her mind, more for the pack and what if the pack came looking for her? Than a crimson ball of lightning shot out, hitting the small hunter and burning his hand, dropping his gun and yowling out.
Eyes darting, her gut twisted in seeing Nolan of all people, sparks glowing in his hands. His eyes lit, burning like the dying embers of a fire as his handsome face held a fury worthy of an untold nightmare at these men. Rachal felt his power, crackling her skin and both the men turned, not even a chance to speak as a dozen balls of crimson lighting formed around the male. Grinning in the capture of his fury, beautiful and deadly in her eyes as they shot out. Hitting the fools who could not cry out, bodies burned and turned to ash by his magic.
Rachal could only stare at this man, never knowing the joker could freeze even her blood in his anger. Standing straighter, she made her claws shift into hands, her fangs gone. To be only a woman again, feeling shame in those fools getting the drop on her.
"Rachal, we need to go. I can put a cover spell on the truck, but I need to push it into the ally way. Your car looks ok enough h to drive, park it behind the bar. We'll take my car back to the packed house." Nolan was calm, his eyes still burning in his emotions in seeing her hurt like this.
Her mouth dry, "Um I...."
"Questions later, move. I'll heal what I can when we get things done." He snapped, eying her and turned to walk away to do the job.
Rachal felt lost, looking around. Still trying to grasp the idea the Nolan was a fucking warlock!
Notes: Ok, I got it done! I brought in some action and this is more of Nolan and Rachal chapter I've been wanting to do for a while! We got the hunters now in town, how will things happen?
