Dr Peyton Roberts is anything but a bad ass pediatric surgeon. She has her secrets and reasons for being so guarded. She decides that she has had enough of being stuck in LA.
When her old medical school/residency room mates let her know that there...
Peyton was sitting in a on call room twirling her pager around as she was on call and her phone rang and she said "Dr Roberts?'
"Hey Peyton it's Nat. What are you doing?' Nat said
She chuckled. "I'm sitting in a on call room waiting for some test results on a kid I'm working on what you are doing isn't it almost midnight there."
Nat laughed. "I'm on call too. I'm sitting here with Wanda."
"Hey Wanda." Peyton said
"Hey P it's good to hear your voice we miss you." Wanda said
"I know I miss you all too." she said
"Hey listen speaking of missing you what would you say about coming back here to New York and working with us it will be fine it will be just like residency all over again." Nat said
"I don't know guys." She said
"Come on Peyton you guys got divorced 6 months ago you are living in the apartment above your ex husband's garage cause you can't afford a place out there by your self. Come back to NY our pediatric surgeon is retiring in two weeks." Nat said
"Yeah I know. I will see what I can do on my end first then you two can take care of the rest I guess." she said
"Ok. Good it will be good to have our best friend back" Wanda said
Peyton's pager started to go off and she said "Gotta go be a superhero girls love you both."
Peyton grabbed her sethscope and lab coat and headed downstairs to the ER as a kid was brought after she fell from out of her tree house.
The next morning she went to her chief of surgery and said "I would like to put in a transfer Dr Kroger."
"Dr Roberts what has brought on this sudden need for a transfer?' Dr Kroger said
"I um sir to be honest I only moved out to LA cause my husband who is now my ex husband wanted to move out here. Now that we are divorced I feel like I should go back home where I belong and that's New York so can you please put in a transfer to NYU hospital for me." Peyton said
"Sure Peyton you have been a great surgeon for this hospital I know you will do great there too. I will get the paperwork started and sent to the chief of surgery out there." Dr Kroger
"Thank you sir." she said with a smile.
She left his office and headed home and took a quick a shower and went to sleep. She woke up a few hours later to her phone ringing and she said "Hello this is Dr Roberts."
"Hi Dr Roberts this Dr Fury I just received your transfer papers to our hospital and I have spoken to your chief of surgery out there in LA he had nothing but great things to say about you. My pediatric surgeon is retiring in two weeks I would like for you to fill his position if that's possible." Dr Fury said
"Um yes yes I would very much like to do that." she said with a smile as she sat up.
"Great two weeks should give you plenty of time to get moved here." Dr Fury said
"Yes it should thank you so much sir." She said
"You are welcome Dr Roberts can't wait to meet you." he said as they both hung up.
She called her parents and asked if she could stay with them till she was able to get back on her feet and they told her that was fine. She went out and got some boxes and started to box all of her stuff up. She took it all on to UPS the next day to be shipped to her parents place that she couldn't fit in her car. She gave her two weeks notice to her boss and worked up until the day she decided to drive across country. She went to the house where her now ex husband was eating breakfast and she put her house key on the counter and said "Good bye Lincoln."
"Peyton?" He said
"I'm going back to NY. Have a nice life." She said and walked out.
She got in her car and started towards New York. It was a long drive from LA to NY. She had to make a few stops but she made it she pulled into her parents drive way and she hugged both of them and said "I'm home."
"We are so glad that you are home baby." Her mom said
She ate dinner with her parents and got settled into her old room and slept until the next morning. She got up ate breakfast it was a tough day for Peyton as she drove to the cemetery. She went to a tiny grave and laid some pink roses down and said "Happy Birthday baby girl mama loves you..I'm home now so mama can visit you more now." She wiped tears as she headed back to her car and went back home.
She spent the day in her room just laying in her room as she remembered what happened to her baby girl at just 4 months old. She will never forgive herself for that day as it was a heart crushing day.
Nat called her and said "Hey Peyton."
"Hey Nat." She said
"You ready for tomorrow I can't wait for you to start." Nat said
Peyton smiled and said "I'm so excited to start working with you all."
"I'm coming to your house with Wanda. We need to get you purple scrubs cause that's what the surgeons wear at the hospital are purple scrubs." Nat said
"Oh ok well let me pull myself together." she said
"Ok I'm about 5 minutes away." Nat said
"Ok." she said
Peyton got up pulled on some shoes and splashed cold water on her face. She grabbed her phone and wallet as she headed downstairs and told her parents where she was going. She got in Nat's car and she said "God you look amazing as always..for a ginger you tan well."
"Oh shut up Nat you look good too. So do you Wanda." Peyton
"oh well thank you." Wanda said with a smile
They headed to the scrub shop and helped her find the right purple she needed for her scrubs. She was able to get her several pairs and helped her find a scrub cap.

After they left the scrub store they grabbed some dinner and meet up with some of the other girls that they were best friends with in medical school and residency. Which was Carol Danvers and Peggy Carter. They all went to Applebee's and had dinner and a few beers. They were laughing and talking about old memories of medical school and residency.
After the night was over Nat took Peyton home. She went into the kitchen and said "oh god I feel like I just laughed off 30 lbs."
Her mom started laughing and said "Baby it's good that you got out with the girls. Did you get all you needed for the hospital here."
"Yup even got me a new scrub cap and sethoscope." she said
She went upstairs and took shower and set her alarm got in bed and went to sleep.
