Peggy waited another a week before she did her c section on Mrs Thomas. Peyton was standing in the room and biting her lip as she waited for Peggy to give her the baby.
Wanda said "I hope she can handle this."
"She can." Nat whispered
The baby was out and Peyton took her over to her OR and said "Ok babygirl let's get that hole fixed up shall we."
She put her under andstarted to perform the surgery. As her friends and Bucky watched her. They couldn't see her fighting tears as she patched the hole and listened to her breathing.
She said "You are going to be just fine little princess." as she stitched her up.
The nurse took her to recovery in the nursery area. Peyton went straight to the showers in the locker room and cried in a hot shower. Nat and Wanda hugged her and said "Shh...it's ok."
Bucky looked at Steve and said "You know why she was upset in that surgery don't you?'
"I do but I won't tell you Buck like Nat told you at the bar last week if she wanted you to know she would tell you." Steve said
A few hours later Peyton was sleeping in a on a call room since she was on call the night before and pulling another 24 hours. Bucky came in the room and saw her sleeping. He laid on the other bed that was in the room and went to sleep. She woke up when his pager went off and he said "you go back to sleep it's mine." as he read it.
"Oh I wasn't aware that anyone else was in here." she said as she saw the time on her watch.
She sat up pulled her shoes on and got all of her stuff back in her pocket. She grabbed her sethoscope.
She said "I need to get up anyways. I need to go eat something and wake up for another long night."
Bucky left the on call room and headed down to his page. She walked up to the peds floor. Just as she did her pager went off. She went downstairs the nurse handed her chart to her. She went over to her patient and saw that it was a 15 year old girl who fell at a cheerleading competiton.
She said "You are going to need surgery why didn't you try and catch your self."
She wheeled her upstairs and got her in an OR and started her surgery.
Bucky went to take his patient upstairs and Olivia said "Sorry Dr Barnes your surgery is going to have to wait all the ORs are being used."
"What do you mean all of them are being used?' he said
"Dr Roberts just got the last one and her surgery has already started." she said to him.
"ugh..how in the world does she do that just automatically knows who needs surgery and who doesn't" Bucky said
"Because she's damn good at her job that's why. That's also why after being here a week she's already been named as the top pediatric surgeron in NY." Nat said
When Peyton got out of the surgery she was filling out the chart and Bucky said "Good you are out of surgery now I can perform my surgery." as he pushed his patient's bed
"Oh dont you start with me Barnes I'm sorry that my patient had a ruptured spleen and I could tell just by looking at her." she said as she took her scrub cap off and took her hair down.
He rolled his eyes at her "I'm getting tired of you acting like you run thr OR floor" as he went to get scrubbed in.
She headed down to the cafeteria and ate her some dinner. Bucky came over as she was eating a pudding cup and said "You know it's rude to take the OR when yours could of waited.."
