The next morning Peyton woke up pulled herself together. She put on her purple scrubs and put a hair tie on her wrist. She stuck her scrub cap in her pocket and put her stethoscope on and made sure sure her watch and phone were charged up for the day. She put her chargers in her purse.
She went down stairs and ate breakfast with her parents. Then headed to the hospital. Nat and the girls met her at the front entrance and helped her get her a badge and her new pager. Nat and Wanda took her up to the pediatric floor of the hospital.
Nat said "Here's your floor boss you are now our new attending pediatric surgeon."
Nat took her over to Dr Fury's office to sign anything that she may need to sign and then she went back to her floor. She introduced herself to all the nurses and the residents on her service as well as the other doctors that worked on her floor. Nat showed her where they got lunch and introduced her to the other attending surgeons.
"Hi I'm Dr Steve Rogers I'm the attending in the trauma department basically I work in the ER most of the time." Steve said
"I'm Dr Sam Wilson I work in the trauma department as well." Sam said to her
"Hi I'm Dr James Rhodes I work in Orthopedics." He said to her as he shook her hand.
"Hi I'm Dr Tony Stark I work in Plastic Surgery." He said very loudly
"Hi I'm Dr Clint Barton I'm in the Burn Unit." he said
Nat said "We are missing one he's on vacation till tomorrow he's the head of our neuro department he's Dr James Buchanan Barnes but he likes to be called "Dr Bucky Barnes. And of course you already know that I'm in general surgery and Wanda is in Cardio and Peggy and you will be working very closely since she is obestrics and gyneocology."
"Ok well it's nice to meet you all. I'm Dr Peyton Roberts I'm the new pediatric surgeon attending." she said with a smile.
Peggy said "I actually need you on a case today if you think you can handle it."
"You know I can handle anything Peg." she said
"Ok then let's go." Peggy said
Peggy took her to the labor and delivery department and said "Mrs Thomas this is Doctor Roberts she is our pediatric surgeon I'm going to do an ultrasound so she can see what's going on."
"Hi Dr Roberts it's very nice to meet you." Mrs Thomas said
"It's very nice to meet you too now let's see about this little girl you are about to have." she said with a smile.
Peggy pulled up the ultrasound and she said "See this here." she points on the ultrasound screen. Where the baby has a hole in her heart.
Peyton whispered "I can see it I can fix that with a simple patch but not while she's in utero. How far along is she?"
"She is 37 weeks." Peggy said
"Go ahead and induce her labor or do a c section that's your call not mine. Just page me when you are ready for me." Peyton said
"ok." Peggy said
"Mrs Thomas your daughter has a hole in her heart that I can patch. But as she gets older we will have to more than likely re patch it or it may grow up on it's on. So we will just monitor her closely as she grows up. I won't know if it's bothering her till I can actually see her and see what's going on once I get in there."Peyton said
"Oh thank you so much Dr Roberts." Mrs Thomas said
"You are very welcome honey." She said with a smile.
