Thea stared as a vendor in the market sliced the head of a fish clean off to sell to her mother. She found it fascinating how effortlessly they were able to end a life; even if it was just a fish. How they couldn't care a bit about it. When the merchant took notice of her gaze, the blondes mother quickly yanked her away from the stand and walked speedily off to another. As the daughters head wandered off into her own imagination, thinking of her outside of the walls, in a place her friend Armin had told her about. The ocean.
How the water was filled with an unbelievable amount of salt it would never run out, and also about the sand beneath ones very feet. It was a dream of hers to visit the ocean atleast once. But when she mentioned it to her parents, they weren't very approving. Saying that there was no such thing and that Thea should focus on her study to become a philosopher like her father, stuff the young girl couldn't bear to hear.
Her mother yanking her away from the stand initiated her mind again, away from her imagination. After a couple minutes, Thea and her mother, Sarah, went back to their small cottage they loved to call home. Where Thea's dad, Fredrick, would probably be studying. Sarah opened to door for her daughter and walked in after Thea, greeting her husband and placing all her groceries down. A small knock on their door made them puzzled, as they were not expecting company.
Sarah went to open the door with Thea on her tail begging on to see who was at the door. The mother was greeted with precious emerald eyes that sparkled in the light of the morning sun, the color of the tadpoles making ripples in the pond. A passionate, strong color that brings life and hope into ones day.
"C-can Thea come and play?" From behind him was his sister, Mikasa, her eyes were severely different from Eren's. Her eyes were hard and cold, like the ash of a dying fire, every detail in her iris so clear and so noticeable. And Armin, Eren's best friend. His eyes were sickeningly blue - perfect, cloudless sky blue. His eyes were the color of a newly bloomed bluebell from the valley that left Thea stunned at how envious she was of them. "Please?"
Now Sarah looked down at her daughter, though Thea would describe her eyes as boring blue eyes, Sarah couldn't help but to think otherwise. "Yes, she can." The mother's response made Thea and Eren smile ear to ear, the blonde little girl rushed past her mom towards her friends. A small smile placed on top of Sarah's lips as she watches her daughter playing with kids her age.
A couple days later, Thea was told to go buy something from the market. Seeing this as an opportunity to prove to her mother that she was indeed mature and a grown up, Thea hurried on towards the market. While walking around, she heard about the Scouts entrance and how they had less people then when they left, and to say the least Thea was disappointed. She had never once heard good news come from the Scouts Regiment, and it was truly defeating knowing that hundreds of people were sacrificing themselves for the further studying of Titans. But they've all died in vain.
As Thea was about to pick up an apple from a stand, a loud explosion echoed throughout Shinganshina. One that made her body fly into the air and slam back down, dropping all her food on the dirt. Thea looked up towards the wall when she saw all the smoke coming from outside of it, the girl stood up and dusted herself before looking back upwards and this time her eyes casting upon a skinless monster. One that was able to peak over a wall 50 feet tall, one that seemed to stare her down.
Time stood still, her blood ran cold and her body was immobile. All while her eyes stared down every movement the gigantic Titan made.
In that moment, the giant brought his foot back and speedily slammed his foot against the protection human kind had. They had infiltrated quickly, Titans poured in with no hesitation.
