Walking into South Park Elementary the next day, Emily went in with more confidence than she usually had. Even if that Cartman kid came along and tried to mess with her, she knew that even he couldn't bring her mood down.
She walked into class and was immediately greeted by Clyde and Token. Kyle and his friends hadn't arrived yet, so she sat at her desk and began reading one of her textbooks.
Kyle and the fat kid, Cartman, walked in, arguing.
"Don't do anything to her, Cartman! She's not the reason you weren't invited over!"
"Okay, Kyle. For a minute let's pretend you're right. Then who else would be responsible?" Cartman asked.
"Listen, fat*ss," Kyle said. "She asked us to invite the rest of the guys in the class. It was US who didn't invite you. She's innocent."
Emily smiled at that. No one's ever defended me before. Well, except James.
Cartman dropped it and class began.
"Thanks." Emily whispered to Kyle.
"For what?" Kyle asked.
"Defending me." Emily said.
Kyle blushed. "Don't worry about it."
A girl with long black hair came up to her desk. Emily tried to remember her name.
"Wendy, right?" Emily asked.
"Yeah, hi. Heard you had all the boys in the class over yesterday." Wendy said.
"Yeah. We just hung out, played video games." Emily said.
"Oh." Wendy said. "The other girls thought...other stuff happened."
"What? No!" Emily said. "Just video games and craptons of snacks. Weird, my older brothers thought the same thing..."
"Oh, okay. That's all it was? They thought you were a sl*t." Wendy said.
"No, not at all!" Emily said, blushing. "I've always just sort of gotten along with guys a bit better than girls is all."
"Yeah, I know what you mean. Just remember: Stan's mine." Wendy said.
"Oh, don't worry about that." Emily assured her. "I have my eye on someone else."
"Who?" Wendy asked, curious.
"As if I'm going to tell." Emily said, giggling.
"Fair enough." Wendy said. "We should hang out sometime."
"Sure." Emily said. "Gotta warn you, I'm not too into 'girl stuff', you know?"
"Oh, no, I understand. We can do something else."
"Sounds fun!" Emily said.
Mr. Garrison walked in and class began.
At lunch, Emily went to go sit with the guys like she did yesterday.
"Fellas! Fellas!" Butters shouted, running into the cafeteria.
"What now, Butters?" Stan asked.
"Eric! He...he..."
"He what?" Token asked.
"He's looking for you, Emily! He wants to kick your a**!"
"What? Why?" Emily asked.
"Does he still not believe me?" Kyle asked.
"He should!" Emily said. "What's not to believe?"
"Well, see, he kinda hates me." Kyle explained. "So it makes sense that he'd think I'm lying to him."
"Why would he hate you?" Emily asked.
"My religion." Kyle said. "He hates Jewish people."
"What? That's really stupid. You didn't tell him where I am, did you, Butters?"
Butters got a guilty look on his face.
"Why would you do that?!" Emily asked.
"He said he would kick my a** too if I didn't tell him. He's on his way here!"
"I know what to do." Stan said. "Come on."
