~Violet's POV~

I walked into PE on Monday after changing into my PE clothes, seeing both Coach Henley and Benson already sat at the front of the gym. They waited until everyone was here before we went outside to the track, the sun making me squint my eyes a little. "Today, you can walk around the track or play soccer or jump rope." Ms. Henley said, "I don't really care." She shrugged.

A bunch of girls began walking around the track together, chatting animatedly. I sighed, almost wishing we were working out or something so I didn't have to sit around alone. I sat down in the small sand box near the end of the football field, gathering up small amounts of sand in my hand before watching it slip through my fingers.

I looked up in confusion when someone sat across from me, and was even more surprised when I saw it was Luke. I opened my mouth and Luke shook his head. "Don't say anything." He stopped me before I spoke, so I frowned as I closed my mouth.

I continued playing with the sand, wondering if I should say something anyways. I just didn't know what. He wasn't exactly fond of me and him willingly sitting by me seemed like some kind of progress. So I decided to keep quiet.

We sat there in silence, him on his phone while I repeatedly played with the sand. I bit my lip as I looked up at him, his blue eyes concentrated on the screen of his phone."Quit staring at me." He said suddenly, and I blinked, looking back down at the sand. "Sorry." I muttered. More silence.

"Why'd you go to the party on Friday?" He asked a moment later, catching my attention. I frowned, "Why wouldn't I?" I asked. "You're clearly not much of a party person." He said, gesturing to me as I played with the sand. "What do you mean?" I raised a brow. Luke scoffed.

"I mean," He started, leaning half way across the sand pit with his elbows on his knees. "You're a square." He said. I stared at him, not sure what that meant. "A prude. A good girl." He elaborated a little more. I narrowed my eyes, "You don't even know me." I scoffed, a bit irritated. Luke rolled his eyes. "I don't have to. It's obvious." He shrugged, leaning back onto his hands.

"You're...boring." He said simply, gazing at me intently. My eyes dropped down to my hands, a little hurt. I wasn't boring. Was I? I heard him snort softly. "Did I hurt your feelings?" He hummed, obviously knowing he had. I heard Ms. Henley blow the whistle, signaling it was time for us to head inside to change, so I quickly stood up. I looked down at Luke, noticing he had the tiniest smirk on his face.

I glared at him and threw the sand I had gathered in my hand at him, "I'd rather be a prude than an asshole." I hissed, angrily turning around and heading after the rest of the class. I took a look back at him, noticing that he currently had a pissed off look on his face as he stood up. I quickly went into the girls locker room, beginning to change my clothes.

I quickly changed my clothes and then left the locker room with my bag on my shoulder and my shoes in hand. I entered the gym and put my bag on the floor, putting my shoes on and double knotting them as usual.

I grabbed my bag and stood up, turning around and yelping in surprise as Luke stood there. He glared at me, backing me up against the wall. My chest brushed against his as my heart lodged itself in my throat, "If you think I'm an asshole, you're sadly mistaken, little girl." He scoffed. I frowned, "I'm not a little girl. I hate to break it to you, but if you think you're not an asshole, then you're sadly mistaken."

I ducked beneath his arm and tried to leave, but his hand wrapped around my arm, stopping me. I gasped in shock at the force he used as he tugged me back, stumbling a little. "Who the hell do you think you are?" He hissed, stepping closer to me. Panic rose up in my chest, but I tried to push it down.

"I-I" I stuttered, digging my fingernails into the palm of my hands. I found it in me to push him away roughly, running out the door of the gym and into the crowded hallway. I disappeared in the crowd, making my way to fifth period.

When lunch came around, I was a bit nervous. Was Luke still mad? Would he try something around the other boys? Probably not. I went to the back of the cafeteria and saw Luke was the only one seated at the table yet. Reluctantly, I went to pull out a chair, but Luke waved me over. I shook my head, "I'm good." I denied. He narrowed his eyes, leaning forward in his chair.

"Just keep your mouth shut about the brief little chat we had." He demanded, and I frowned.

Ashton and Calum showed up next, but Mikey never showed. I looked over at Ash and Cal, "Where's Mikey?" I asked, and Calum looked up at me, "He's sick." He said, taking a bite out of his burger. "Oh." I said softly.

"Speaking of which," Cal continued, his mouth stuffed with food. I scrunched my nose in disgust while Ash stared at Calum, grossed out. "Mikey said you have to drive her home if he's absent, Luke." Calum finished, causing Luke's head to snap up from looking at his phone. "You're kidding." Luke scoffed.

Ashton and Calum both shook their heads. I didn't look at Luke, knowing he was glaring at me, as if this was my fault. Luke rolled his eyes, "Fine." He muttered.
