Chapter 7

I opened my eyes to see Miss Heliotrope pacing around my room in a worry. Nothing to any surprise really. I sat up slowly. "Oh Maria! Thank the heavens! What on earth happened, child?" she quickly ran to sit on the bed with me. Suddenly it all rushed back to me. His voice. The vile words he spoke. The way he said it. He sounded like he meant it. A single tear slowly trickled down my cheek as I closed my eyes. He lied to me.

"I suppose I just wasn't feeling at my best," I lied. She sighed sympathetically and kissed my forehead. "You must get plenty of rest, my dear" she whispered, before leaving the room. I took a deep breath, and faked a smile. Smiling always helps, even if you don't mean it. I could hear shouting from downstairs. It sounded like Uncle Benjamin and... Robin. Oh if he was here, I would... I would tell him how much he broke me. I would give him a meaningful slap across the face and then I would tell him that he has lost me forev-

"Maria!" My bedroom door flew open and his face surrounded my mind. My throat became dry and no words could escape me. I was frozen. I had no idea what to do. The love of my life was stood in front of me, yet I was useless to him and he was to marry another. What was he doing here? Inviting me to the wedding? Utter scoundrel. If I could speak I would tell him what he needs to hear. If I could move, I would treat him the way he deserves to be treated. But I was just staring at him. "Maria, you have to listen to me. Lady Naomi, she's going to be my wife, I have no choice about that but please I need your help-"

"Stupid boy! Get out of this house before I tell your father what you are doing!" Benjamin yelled, grabbing Robin's arms and dragging him out of the room. Robin's voice only continued to echo down the staircase. I burst into tears and curled up into a ball. He was going to be the death of me. I swear.

I recently had exams and stuff and I've been really busy with school but summer just started so I'm gonna be on here a lot more for the next few weeks so I should be updating a lot more.
