[Robin]

I opened my eyes slowly and grabbed my sore head as I tried to sit up. The bright morning light was glaring in at me through the window, making me squint. I looked down to see small puddles of blood on the floor. My whole body ached and I hadn't the strength to stand, but I tried anyway, collapsing back down several times before I actually managed. I was a mess.

[Maria]

"Maria, you ought to tell me what that little scoundrel did to you" Uncle Benjamin glared at me as I ate my breakfast. What did he do to me? Was it that he was marrying another woman? Or was it that he wasn't complaining about it? I suppose neither would really matter to Benjamin. He never liked the boy anyway. "Nothing" I replied. He banged his fist against the table, making me jump. "Maria, what did he to you?" he yelled. I paused and stared as I felt my eyes fill with tears. "One of his friends..." I began. Benjamin narrowed his eyes letting me continue. "They were fooling around, one of them accidentally hit my head. That's all."

"Why did he say it was his fault?" Benjamin asked. Oh, Robin. You stupid boy. Always getting your self into trouble. "Probably protecting his friends" I answered. There was a silence. "Like you are now?" he whispered. I looked up at him in shock. "His father told me everything. Maria, I'm sorry about Robin marrying-"

"It's fine. He can marry her. They will be happy" I said bitterly, leaving the table. "Where are you going?" Benjamin asked. I didn't reply. He didn't need to know. I didn't want to be found.
