I slowly opened my eyes and shielded my vision from the bright lights seeming to come from all around me.

I looked around and all I saw was white. White ceiling, white floors, white walls and white shelves containing absolutely nothing.

Have these people never heard of different colours than white?

Red?

Green?

Blue?

Yellow?

Purple?

Orange?

Or even Black?

I stood up in the boring and plain room and walked over to the white door.

I reached for the doorknob, obviously not expecting it to open, but what I least expected, happened.

The door silently opened and revealed a just as equally white hallway. Surprise surprise, I was again almost blinded by the whiteness of the space.

"It can't be this easy, can it?" I asked myself.

With an unsure atmosphere around me, I took slow steps towards the other end of the hallway.

As I sped up my steps, the other end seemed to get further and further away from me.

Soon I was sprinting down the hallway, but the door didn't seem to get any closer. Before I could stop or even process anything, my body collided with the white door at the end of it.

From my force and bodyweight the door was slightly hanging off it's hinges and I was lying on the- again -white floor.

I soon got up and more lights flickered on, making the place even more brighter and even more blinding, revealing it's true size.

The room looked like a big white parking building without any cars in it.

What the actual hell is going on?

By now I was so confused that I was almost sure that I had lost my mind and was in some kind of a hypnotherapy session with a creepy old lady telling me what to think.

I was just wandering around the parking lot room thingy when I heard someone whistling.

I recognized the tune as Somewhere Only We Know by Keane.

This song was the song that my mother always used to sing to me ans my brother whenever something was bothering either of us.

She was always there for us...

Up until her own death.

As the volume of the whistling turned louder, as if they were creating the noise just behind me. Then it stopped completely.

"Kiki, honey? Is that you?" I quickly turned around upon hearing her voice for the first time in forever.

There stood the person who had been my rock through my entire life, even when she was dead and gone, she continued to watch over me and help me through life.

Her light brown hair, just like mine, was cut short and ended above her shoulders.

She was wearing lightwashed jeans with a floral shirt.

Her face showed a lot of emotions, but the most obvious and the most easy to make out was confusion.

"Mom?" I asked, my voice quiet and I was barely managing in holding back my tears that were threatening to spill out of my eyes.
