Mikey
"Is Rykey real yet?" Brooklyn asked with a grin as the five of them collapsed into their room on beds and sofas, but it seemed to Mikey that he was only joking.
But the main thing he clocked was Andy's expectant, knowing look as he subtly shifted his gaze from Mikey to Rye, a smile playing at the corner of his lips. He nodded once to Mikey, giving Mikey all the confidence he needed.
Andy knew, it seemed. He didn't know he did, but he knew.
He laughed, looking at Rye and clasping their hands together.
"I would say it is Brook." Mikey said, no doubt in his voice whatsoever. Rye beamed at him, before the two of them looked back to the boys.
All they were met with were smiles. Bright eyes, wide smiles.
And Mikey couldn't be happier.
"Finally! Jeez, we've been waiting for this day for years!" Brook exclaimed, doing a weird jig as he leapt to his feet.
"It took you both long enough... We didn't think you'd ever get together." Jack walked over and hugged both Mikey and Rye, before joining in with Brook's dance.
Mikey wanted to join in so badly, but he didn't want to hurt his knee any more than he had done, so he met Rye's gaze with a smile, tilting his head to the side.
"Okay fine." He smiled a lopsided one. He jumped to his feet with a shout and started dancing with Brook and Jack, the three of them giggling and laughing.
But whilst whatever... that... was, was happening, Andy took a seat beside him.
"You knew, didn't you?" Mikey mused with a grin, not taking his eyes of his friends or his boyfriend.
They just looked so happy... And it was a nice change from the last time they had been in the flat, or the depressing mood that had lingered these last few weeks. And then Mikey started thinking: when had Andy realised?
This question took Mikey back to a day he wasn't so proud of; the night when they were out filming covers in the dark, and Mikey had completely broken down in front of everyone. But it wasn't that night... It had been the next morning, when Andy had watched himself and Rye sleep. He'd had that look in his eyes, as if Andy had known something that Mikey didn't.
That had been true, to some extent.
"C'mon Mike... We all knew." Andy nudged his shoulder with a laugh.
Mikey couldn't disagree with that though, because Jack and Brook had made it clear that they had been waiting, or had known that they had something...
So what Mikey was learning was that everyone had known, except from himself and Rye.
How ironic was that?"Fair point." He chuckled, heart bursting with adoration as the three of them started playing music, dancing even more stupidly than they had been before.
"I'll let you in on a secret Mike... I knew, but I didn't. I saw the way he looked at you, and it was different to how he looked at everyone else. But my suspicions were confirmed that night... When we lost you on our way back to the minivan?" Andy stopped.
Mikey just nodded his head. That memory would stay with him, always. And not for the best reasons either.
"But, when we got back, Rye left the room, and he had been gone for ages, so I went out to check on him. He'd... He'd been crying, that much was obvious, and he was talking to his mum, but he hung up after he saw me. He was curled up on the floor, so I went over to him, and we talked about it. He admitted his feelings to me then, and that's when I knew."
Andy smiled softly, although it was a bittersweet smile.
The two of them sat and watched the other three, grins on their faces.
"I'm proud of you mate... Of both of you. I know how hard these last few weeks have been."
Andy hugged Mikey briefly, and he saw Rye looking at them, question on his face.Mikey stood up, not even bothering with the crutches, limped lightly over to his boyfriend, just hugged him tight around his waist, not saying a word.
He heard Jack and Brook whistle at them, but Mikey ignored it, although he was embarrassed. It was the perfect cover though, because he could hide his face in Rye's jumper. Rye's arms wrapped around his shoulders, and rested his head on top of Mikey's.
"What brought this on?"
"Nothing... I just wanted to give you a hug. I- I missed you." Mikey mumbled. Rye chuckled.
It wasnt nothing, but Rye didn't know that. But he also did miss Rye, even though they were in the same room, but...
He didn't really pay attention to much after that, only realising that the two of them had been slowly swaying to the music.
He blushed horribly when he noticed that either Brook or Jack had replaced the upbeat song to one much slower, and much more tender.
Mikey turned his head to the side, his eyes landing on Andy, who was watching them fondly. Then to Brook and Jack. Then back to Andy. All three of them were filming right now... Oh God...
Mikey squeezed his eyes shut, but he didn't make them stop. He knew they would probably be posting that as an Instagram story, but he really couldn't care less.
All that he cared about right now was the fact that the boys accepted him, his mother accepted him, and his manager accepted him... Accepted them. And he honestly couldn't be happier. He was in a good place right now, and he knew that everyone else could see that.
Rye pecked his lips after a few more songs, and he knew that everyone laughed when his face reddened. He felt Rye squeeze his cheeks with his hands with a grin.
"Look how cute he is." His boyfriend showed him off to the camera's around the room, and Mikey knew that he was only getting redder and redder. But he wouldn't change it for the world.
This moment, something that Mikey never though would happen, especially not with Rye, of all people.Hours later Mikey had edited and uploaded the vlog footage that they had recorded whilst Mikey and Rye were at Mikey's house, and he was laughing and blushing at some of it, because he had been asleep for a great deal of the footage.
He wondered, as he watched it back on YouTube, if any of the Roadies would clock on to how close himself and Rye were, how clingy they were being. Their notifications had exploded, the vlog and the Instagram stories causing question after question, and it didnt bother them one bit.
Mikey wanted to tell them, he really did, but everything was still so new to him, and he wasn't comfortable with that many people knowing just yet. And he knew that Rye understood that, and maybe Rye was in the same boat as him. As far as he knew, Rye had never looked towards a man before either, so this was new to both of them.
Mikey was okay with that.
Because it gave them time to get used to everything, and how their relationship was stronger than ever.

So this was another shorter chapter... And now the next few chapters are going to begin to the concluding ones, as there are only a few left! 😭❤️
Anyway, I know the last few chapters have all been kind of the same thing, but I wanted to drive home everyone's reaction, and how Mikey and Rye are getting more comfortable with themselves, and also how Mikey is slowly regaining his confidence and his peaceful state of mind.❤️
So, I hope you enjoyed this chapter... The next one will be longer than this one, as I know it was shorter, but there was a good reason for making this one shorter.❤️
Stay safe.❤️
