Chapter 22

Bruce's POV

 Time Skip... A Few Days Later...

 Liz is all better thankfully and back to work. I unfortunately couldn't be at work with her in the lab today because I got called out on a mission with all of the Avengers. We have to fight some bad guys in Harlem... oh Harlem... nothing but fond memories there... and by fond I mean awful. I basically broke Harlem which I didn't think was possible. 

   I have no clue who these bad guys are or what they look like, all I know is that I want them gone so I can go back to Liz. I watch everyone else suit before and wait patiently before we all leave the tower and head to Harlem on the quinjet. It only takes a few minutes to get there thanks to the high speed of the quinjet. Everyone looks excited to get some action while my face conveys nothing but dread. Thor notices and puts an arm around me. "Relax Banner, everything is going to be okay. All we need to do is kick their asses and get put them in jail. It's a piece of cake." I nod and sigh. "You're right Thor. I just miss Liz is all."

   He looks at me sincerely. "You really love her, don't you?" I smile at him softly. "You have no idea how fast and hard I fell for that girl. I've never loved anyone in my life as much as I love her. She's the one, I just know it in my heart and soul. Someday, when the time is right, Liz and I are going to get married. I'm going to propose to her in a way that she'll never forget and we'll spend the rest of our lives together. I can't wait for that day." Thor smiles. "I thought the very same with Jane and I, but she dumped me and stomped on my heart, tearing it to pieces in the process."

    I frown. Poor Thor, the guy has a lot more than anyone else on the team by far. It amazes me how he's still able to go on despite his heavy losses. "Don't worry Thor, there's someone out there for you. Anyone would be lucky to be with you. Don't give up, okay?" He nods and gives me a brotherly hug. Everyone else is looking at us strangely, wondering why we're having a moment when we should be gearing up to fight. Thor and I brush off their looks and finally get ready to fight. Nat gets in front of me, says a few insults to rile me up, and Hulk has officially taken the wheel. 

    We find the bad guys instantly, which turn out to be a band of criminals who have robbed several banks in the area and plan to give the money to even worse people... top agents of HYDRA. HYDRA is still a thing believe it or not. Despite their lack in numbers, they still find ways to make life difficult for everyone else. I'll admit these guys are putting up a good fight, but not good enough. Hulk smirks to himself while giving them all really good ass whippings. After a little while of this, one of the guys hands back over the money before they get taken into custody by agents of SHIELD for questioning before actually going to jail. 

    I try to shift back into my normal self but Hulk is being stubborn. He wants to see Liz himself for a bit before allowing me to. I sigh internally but don't bother to argue with him because he doesn't get much time with Liz. I tell him he has an hour with her and he huffs in agreement. Tony texts Liz to tell her to meet us up in one of the training rooms. Believe it or not, Tony has an extra large elevator for Hulk to use. The man's crazy but yet he's a genius. 

     When we get back, Liz looks really tired but happy at the same time. She greets everyone warmly before beaming up at me. "Hey Hulk, it's so good to see you. Did you kick ass?" He grins at her. "Hulk totally kicked ass." She reaches up to kiss one of his hands and he actually blushes. "That's my man." Everyone watches us in awe for a moment before leaving the room to give us privacy for the next hour. We talk about everything under the sun and even make out a bit. When the hour's up, Hulk allows me to shift back into my normal self. 

     "Liz, baby girl, you look tired." She smiles at me. "I am but I'm glad the mission went well and those bad guys are now in custody. I had no doubt in my mind that the Avengers wouldn't be able to take them down. After all, you're the freaking Avengers, Earth's mightiest heroes." I chuckle and kiss her forehead. "Thank you darling. Can I make you dinner?" She smiles. "I'd love that. Can you make soup and salad?" I nod with a smile. "Sounds perfect. I'll even brew us up some tea." She grins adorably, melting my heart once again. 

   We have a nice dinner together, which actually came out pretty decent considering I'm not much of a cook. She then goes over some results with me in the lab before we call it a night from work and relax for awhile.
