Chapter 23
Bruce's POV
Time Skip... A Month Later...
In the past month, Fury has attempted three more times to get Liz to join SHIELD, in which she has politely declined every single time. When will the man get the damn hint? Knowing him, never. He acts like such a child and it can be infuriating. Oh well... Liz and I have been dating for a few months now. It's hard to believe time has flown by like that already. I'm taking about proposing to her once we hit the one year mark. I think that would be the perfect day to propose.
Liz is out for the day with Wanda and Nat. They're having a girls day, which they don't get to do often. I'm glad they're all good friends. I got invited to hang out with all the guys today but I decided to have a bit of me time, something I don't get much of. I'm currently in the lab running some experiments. Afterwards, I'm going to cook myself an early supper in the kitchen. I'm craving some dumplings and chicken. Yum!
It's nice having some peace and quiet. I'm also glad the guys are having guys night on another floor of the tower rather than right on top of me. Hulk is content for once too. The two of us are keeping each other company, his thoughts racing through my mind. Consider it mental telepathy to some extent. The tests turn out to be successful and I'm done earlier than I'd thought I'd be. I dash to the kitchen so I can begin cooking and eating my dinner. Thankfully we have all the ingredients so I don't have to run to the store tonight. I'm a bit too lazy to make a grocery run tonight.
I make the chicken first since that's more time consuming to cook than the dumplings. The chicken takes twenty minutes to cook while the dumplings only take five afterwards. Within a half an hour, I have delicious chicken and dumplings. They taste pretty good despite my cooking skills not being nearly as any good as Liz's. She seems to be having a good time with the girls. She sent me a few adorable selfies with the girls. Her and Wanda smiling from ear to ear while Nat smirks in every single one with her arms crossed over her chest.
The girls get home around eight. I saved some chicken and dumplings for Liz knowing she's probably starved. As if on queue, she pecks me on the lips and dashes to the fridge. I know my girl so well. She grins when she notices what I've made. "You're the best Bruce!" I chuckle and sit with her while she eats and tells me about her girls day. I then tell her about the experiments I ran in the lab and the steps of how I made this fabulous meal. It's a relaxing end to a relaxing day. For once, I wasn't stressed and neither was Liz. We both deserve more days like today.
Hoped that you guys liked this chapter! I'm super worn out but I still wanted to squeeze in a short update. I have my first book signing on Saturday at Pride here. I'm super excited and nervous all wrapped up in one. Wish me luck peeps! :) -Mary
