It hit me like a freight train, I can’t keep all of this a secret.
But how could I tell my family? Deep inside I knew all respect they now have for me will be lost. My family was small, and as of right now, they’re all I have, aside Nathan.
I’ve only been home two weeks, and I’ve lost my best friend, and now my boyfriend.
Chris was the only one at the house with me, Vivian was out of town for the week. I walked out of the guest room, Chris was watching tv, eating a bowl of cereal. “Chris, hey” I said softly.
“Hey?” he questioned. “What’s wrong?”
“Well, the doctor called-“
“Is the baby okay?”
I never told anyone about me having twins, to be honest, all my family knew was that I went for an ultrasound.
“Babies Chris,” I said, emphasizing the s. “Twins, I’m having twins.” his jaw dropped.
“Oh My God!!! Good for you! I can’t believe it!”
“I’m happy, I really am. But, I had a DNA test.”
“Why the hell would you do that?”
“Because I’m a fuck up, I made a mistake, I was venerable.” he just stared at me, putting down his bowl. “When Michael and I weren’t together for them few months, I slept with Nathan. We had a few cups of wine, and-” I sighed. “I’m not going to make excuses, honestly. I just wanted to be loved. And now I’m having his children.” Chris got up onto his feet.
“Don’t cry sis.” he hugged me. “It’ll be okay, trust me.”
“Has your heart ever felt broken? I mean literally. I can feel my heart breaking. My heart actually hurts. It hurts to think, it hurts to breath, I’m just hurt.”
“I can’t say I’ve ever felt that way, but I don’t know Nathan, I only know Mike. Look Jackie, there’s a reason for everything. And right now may be rough for you, but in the end, it’ll all work out.” I just smiled. “You’re smart, and young, and you know that every mess you put yourself into, you get yourself out of.”
“You’re right, thank you.” I rubbed my nose. “Do you think everyone else will be as nice about this as you?”
“Hell no, if anything you’ll have Aly, Brooke and Vivian. You know how our sisters are, just like mom.”
“She’ll hate me for this.”
“Hate is a strong word, but she won’t be happy.” he walked towards the stove, “You need to eat, you haven’t eaten since this morning and you have twins you need to feed too!” he took out a steak from the fridge and cut up potatoes. “Let me cook you dinner, just sit down and drink some water.”
“Thank you Chris, I love you.” He shot back a smile
“Love you more little sis”
As he went to fry the steak, a knock came from the door.
“It’s open!” Chris yelled out.
In walked Aly and Sammy.
“Hey guys!” they both said.
Aly walked up to where I was sitting, and then sat next to me.
“How’s the baby?” She looked me deep in my eyes “What’s wrong? Please tell my the baby is okay”
“They’re fine, perfectly fine. I just need food, I haven’t eaten since this morning.”
“Wait, THEY?! You’re having twins?!”
