⚠️ Before You Read ⚠️
It took a LONG TIME to write this. Ten months. Because of this, you probably don't remember the story that well.

Take some time to go back and revisit the last five chapters or so. It improves the reading experience a lot. Have fun.

Gunshots.

They rang in his head. Blinding his ears, murdering his senses.

Screaming.

People dressed up in shorts and tank tops who were only minutes ago laughing and shopping now scrambling to take cover from the bullets.

Crying.

Infants crying, screaming— oh, the screams— children laying in fetal positions, blood pouring from their chests.

This was his fault. All his fault.

And now Zane sat here, a gun to his head, tied up and stranded in a room. Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, his eyes glowing brighter than ever.

"Zane, what should we do?" Nana whispered in a worried tone as she stared at the Guardian Forces.

It seemed that everyone was frozen, staring at these fierce men holding guns more than half their size.

"We freeze," Zane responded, "and we pray."

Nana followed his instructions and stood there, not daring to look away from the GF. They had already started searching the crowd of people. Zane and Nana had to escape somehow. If they just stood there, they would undoubtedly be caught-- and they knew that.

Zane slowly inched his hand towards Nana's leg, his eyes still focused on the GF. He slid his hand up to her shorts where he found the smoke bomb she kept on her at all times for protection. He pulled it out of her pocket and slowly moved his thumb onto the button. Just as the Guardian Forces turned around to come search the bar, he detonated it.

Zane heard the Guardian Forces yell orders. Guns were cocked. They ignored it and darted around the arch, hiding in the rave area where people were just as terrified and frozen as the people in the club. As soon as they saw Zane and Nana move, though, they started screaming in fear. Oh no.

"Run, Nana!" Zane commanded.
The two sprinted out of the building and in the opposite direction of the GF. As soon as the couple found a place to hide, they stopped.

"Zane, we need to sparkle-ab magic back to the house. We're safe there," Nana breathed heavily from the sprinting.

"I'm all out of sparkle ab magic, Nana," Zane told her, a wall of dread blocking the meif'wa from seeing through his crystal blue eyes.
Nana gave a swift sigh in anger, landing her hands on her hips and tapping her foot. Zane could tell she was in deep thought, her golden eyes looking somewhere far away. At last, she snapped out of it.

"The Area!" Nana blurted.

"Huh?"

"The secret area that I gave you a massage in! They'll never find us there!" Nana grabbed Zane's hand, ready to sprint to the grove of trees.
It wasn't far but they still had to run a good ten minutes to get there.

"N-Nana, we can't be seen," Zane exasperatedly told her.

"We won't! Just be sneaky, okay?"

"Alright... okay, let's do it."
