Ryan's POV (A/N- oooh that's new)
I walked back into my third period class as the bell rang to let out school. I was going in after school to finish my math test.
"Hey Ryan!" I turned to see Carter walking towards me.
"Hey." I smiled, waiting for him to catch up.
"Do you wanna hang out?" He asked.
"Yeah, I just have to finish my math test real quick. You can just come in and wait if you want." I told him, as I walked into the open door of the classroom. Carter sat down a few desks away as I walked over to my teacher's desk.
"Hi Ryan." Mrs. Wilson said, handing me my test.
"Hi." I said quietly.
"You okay?" She asked, as I began to make my way back to the desk I'd dropped my backpack at.
"My sister is just being..." I started to say, "really dumb." I finished.
"Your sister? Oh Lexi?" She clarified.
"Yeah. You had her?" I questioned, surprised, as I didn't know this information.
"I did. She was a really good student." Mrs. Wilson quietly commented, as I took out my pencil and began to read question number eleven, right where I left off a couple hours ago. After around twenty minutes, I finished my test and Carter and I left the classroom, before going out the front doors of the school.
"How is your sister being dumb?" He curiously asked after we had walked for a couple minutes.
"She went on a stupid date with her stupid boyfriend last night and then slept in this morning so I had to walk to school. She probably told my mom that she felt sick but now she's probably hanging out with her stupid boyfriend, not sick at all." I huffed, kicking a stone, causing it to bounce down the sidewalk ahead of us and then onto the road.
Ethan's POV
Lexi and I were laying on the couch watching Netflix, and I had my arm tightly around her waist.
"We have to watch the next episode Ethan!" Lexi exclaimed, as the episode of American Horror Story that we were watching had ended.
"Then put it on." I laughed, just watching her and she grabbed the remote and put on the next episode. She glanced up and caught me looking at her.
"Is there something on my face?" She asked, her hand reaching up and touching her face.
"No." I shook my head. "You're just so damn gorg-" I was saying until the front door opened. Lexi sat up, my arm still around her.
"Ryan, I was gonna pick you up..." She said, escaping my grasp and standing up. I sat up, looking from Ryan to Lexi.
"You were gonna take me to school too." He said, kicking off his shoes and beginning to walk up the stairs.
"Don't walk away Ryan!" Lexi raised her voice as she walked closer to him.
"First you came home late and slept in, causing me to walk and almost be late to school. Then you skip school and you lie to mom. Then you don't pick me up from school either." He said, his voice getting louder.
"I'm sorry okay? No one's perfect Ryan!" She yelled.
"Well I know you're not. I'm starting to think all this is because of Ethan!" He yelled. I looked at him, before standing up.
"Don't you dare bring Ethan into this, Ryan." She said, quieter this time. I walked over, grabbing one of her hands.
"It's okay..." I whispered, as Ryan and Carter went upstairs, leaving the house silent.
"No it's not." She said, turning around to see me and I saw that there were tears on her face. I pulled her into a hug and she buried her face in my chest.
"Don't cry... this isn't something worth crying over." I told her, wiping away her tears with my thumb.
Lexi's POV
"Don't cry... this isn't something worth crying over." Ethan said, gently wiping away the tears with his thumb. I nodded, pulling away from him and walking into the kitchen. I grabbed a glass from one of the cabinets and filled it with water. I took a sip before placing it on the counter.
"Hey..." Ethan quietly said, causing me to turn around to face him.
"Hm?" I hummed, as he got closer, his lips connecting to mine. I felt hands on my waist, pulling me in. Without breaking the kiss, Ethan lifted me onto the counter, as he stood in between my legs as we continued making out. I gently tugged on his hair as his fingers lightly tiptoed across my waist, just under the t-shirt that I was wearing, sending chills up my spine. I pulled away, out of breath, and I smiled as he hungrily attached his lips to mine for the second time. I didn't know that I needed this so bad.
"Eth-" I heard someone begin to say, causing us to pull away. I looked over Ethan's shoulder to see Grayson and Madisyn standing in the hallway, a look of disbelief on both of their faces.
"H-hi." I managed to quietly say, letting go of Ethan.
"I wanted to talk to you about something. When you weren't at home, I thought you'd be here." Grayson spoke. Ethan nodded, smiling a little at me before walking out of the kitchen and following Gray out into the backyard. Madisyn slowly walked over to where I was sitting on the counter, and hopped up next to me. There was a tolerable silence between us for a few minutes.
"No feelings, huh?" She asked sarcastically, quoting what I'd told her countless times over the past month.
"That's what I thought..." I sighed, thinking back on the signs that I did like Ethan that I just missed or brushed away.
"Well now you know." She half-smiled. I nodded, glancing out the window and seeing Ethan talking with a most genuine smile on his face, and I couldn't help but wonder what he was talking about that made him so happy. I breathed in before letting my thoughts turn into words in a matter of seconds.
"Call me crazy... but I think I more than just kinda like him. I think I love him."

lexi
p.s.
i know that ethan and lexi started off as friends, then best friends...and now they have feelings for each other. but boys and girls can be just friends!! i'm not implying in this book that they can't, it just happened that way :) it shouldn't matter who you're friends with, whether it be a girl, boy, etc.. and if someone has a problem with that then they aren't a true friend. live your life the way you want to and with who you want to! thanks for coming to my TED talk.
