A gasp escaped my lips as my hands flew to my mouth.

I let out a choked sob trying to contain my jumbled emotions.

Alec's eyes softened considerably at the sight of me.

His arm snaked around my waist and pulled my body into a warm, comforting hug.

A hug we both needed desperately.

I snaked my arms around his neck, standing on my toes in an attempt to match his height.

I breathed in his manly scent, fluttering my eyes shut as shivers spread throughout my body.

"Alec!"

A small voice screamed, snapping me out of my daze.

I let go of Alec, pushing away as if he was scorching.

His eyes flashed with hurt and I frowned, dropping my gaze at the sudden guilt I felt.

"Alexandra," he whispered as if he had seen a ghost.

My eyes welled up with tears at the sight I was currently witnessing.

A beautiful little girl held her arms out running toward a grinning Alec who was now propped onto his knees, arms wide.

Both their eyes held tears that looked just about ready to escape.

I frowned in confusion at the tug on my heart.

It held such a strong emotion that I couldn't quite figure out.

It was so surreal.

A smile plastered across my face as tears fell from my eyes that I was sure were definately red and puffy by now.

"God, I've missed you so much." Alec whispered pulling her into a tight hug like his life depended on it.

She cried in his arms before her eyes drifted in my direction.

I sucked in a shocked breath at her hypnotizing orbs that seemed to stare straight into my soul.

Alec was right.

She has the most beautiful blue eyes.

She had Alec's brown hair, slightly full lips, finishing the look with a nose identical to his.

The only difference was her eyes but besides that she was an exact replica of her brother.

My eyes softened at the precious sight.

She whispered something in Alec's ear, peeking at me with almost every word she spoke.

His eyes snapped in my direction in surprise before a wide grin settled on his features.

He whispered a reply before standing to his feet and motioned Alexandra to walk where I stood silently.

She shyly made her way toward me and I smiled welcomingly trying to ease her nerves.

"Hi Alexandra." I beamed, kneeling to her short height.

Her eyes widened as if not expecting me to known her name.

"Hi Trish."

Her voice was barely audible but I heard clearly.

I raised a questioning brow at Alec, wondering how she knew my name.

He only smirked before shrugging his shoulders and walking nearer to us.

"Trish is Alec a good boyfriend?" Alexandra asked tugging on my hand to capture my attention.

I spluttered on nothing but air and my own saliva at the random question.

"What?" I tried to maintain a calm composure as to not scare her away.

She repeated the question that seemed so natural and innocent to her but it had me frozen in shock.

"Why do you ask?" I questioned glaring at the devil himself every chance I got.

"Do you love my brother?"

By now my heart had stopped beating.

Everything and everyone became so distant.

There was no one else except me and Alec.

I looked straight into his captivating brown orbs that sent a surge of electricity throughout my entire body.

Head to toe.

No part left undone.

Did I love Alec?

Do I even know what love is?

There was this nagging feeling that would not go away.

My heart pounded fiercly against my rib cage as if trying to break free.

It wanted out.

Right where Alec stood, eyes staring statight into mine, I felt my heart tugging in his direction.

And realisation finally dawned on me.

My heart fought for freedom only to get to Alec.

That's where my heart belongs.

My breathing became ragged and suddenly I found my eyes looking staright into Alexandra's.

She seemed to be studying my every movement not missing anything in the slightest.

Her lips tugged into a knowing smile.

Her small hand gently rested on my cheek and she whispered for my ears only.

"You do."

I stood completely shocked.

"Alexandra." Mary said sternly placing a hand on her shoulder. "Don't scare Trish now honey why don't you go talk to the other kids while I speak with Alec."

"No! They're so mean." She stomped inching closer toward me.

Mary sighed in frustration glancing at Alec for help.

He seemed to be deep in thought.

My lips formed in a deep frown and I straightened my legs wincing at the sudden pain.

Reaching my hands out, my body moving at its own accord, my palms lay gently on Alec's cheeks.

His eyes met mine, seeming distraught.

"What's wrong?" I questioned trying to place my roller coaster of emotions aside.

I felt his breath quicken, placing his palms over mine.

"Trish," he muttered breathlessly in confusion.

I nodded motioning him to continue.

He gulped, snatching his hands away before taking a few steps back.

My face dropped in disappointment, feeling rejected.

He lowered his eyes not meeting my gaze.

I cleared my throat in an attempt to mask the pain and turned my attention to Mary.

"I'll take Alexandra so you can speak with Jake."

I gave a tight smile not waiting for a reply as I took ahold of Alexandra's hand gently tugging her out the room.

I spared one last glance in Alec's direction only to see he was already staring, frown evident but an unreadable emotion tattooed his features.
