Ryan Robertson One Shot

Maybe this wasn’t the best decision we had taken, but it was worth it. It was decided at the spur of the moment. We were laying in his backyard watching the stars when out of nowhere he said that he wanted to go on a road trip. It had been in his mind going out and explore whatever was out there. He just wanted to take loads of pictures and videos to show everyone he actually went on one. So, I agreed. That was all. He brought up the idea and I agreed.

So, here we are four hours later far away from the city as possible. The sun was rising in front of us and it was just the most beautiful view I had ever seen. It was warm, which is weird in England, and we were just letting the air mess up our hair. I had no idea where we were, but I was hoping Ryan knew.

“Hey, so, what happens if we are lost?” I asked.

“Well, right now we are acting surprisingly calm, so, I think when we are lost we are calm.” He spoke smoothly.

Suddenly I wasn’t so calm anymore.

“We are lost?” I asked louder. “Ryan you are supposed to know where we are!”

“Calm down, babe, I think I have an idea.” He tried his hardest to smile, but I knew he was as clueless as me.

I just lowered my head in my hands and hoped and wished he was joking.

“Ryan, you have to be kidding—“ I started.

“Calm down, yes, I know where we are.” He finally affirmed me.

I will get him back. I let out a huge breath that I was holding in. We had reached the shore and the air was heavy and salty, but the view continued to be beautiful. The sun was higher up now and a few cottages were in view. Ryan took his camera out and took a few pictures of them.

“Ryan keep your eyes on the road.” I urged.

Instead he stopped randomly and parked on the side of the road.

“Come on,” he got out and got some basket from the back seat.” I got out and saw around. The grass was high and no one else was in view. Some sea birds were sitting on the rocks closer to the ocean.

“Are you sure you know where we are?” I asked again.

“Yup, I’m sure. Let’s take a picture.” He held me close in his arms and kissed the side of my head as he took the picture.

We walked a few feet to a large rock on the edge of the ocean. He took out a few sandwiches we had made and some drinks.

“My mother used to bring me here all the time.” He finally spoke. “She said that she brought me here because I was her special boy and that I should come here when I brought my special girl.”

I was speechless.

“Ryan…” I started, but instead he continued.

“So, I haven’t been here in years actually. The last time she brought me here she made me promise that the next girl that would be here would be the girl.”

By now he had his hands in mine and I swear my heart was beating a million times faster. My breathing was irregular and some tears were threatening to spill.

“Now that I brought you here I wanted to ask you one thing.” He waited for me to continue, but I only nodded my head. “Babe, will you be my special girl?”

The tears spilled and my heart felt like it was going to burst out of my chest. I was so happy. He had brought me to this very special rock at the edge of a beautiful ocean and asked me to be his special girl.

“Yes!” I screamed. He hugged me so tightly. I would forever cherish this moment and this place.

For the rest of the day we laid and watched the waves crash into the rocks. We held hands and kissed for the most of it and it was perfect. This was the best decision I had taken and no other one could top it.

“So, is this our place now?” I asked after some time of silence.

“Yes, this is our place. Whenever we want to get away and let the world not bother us we will come here and just enjoy each other’s company. This is our little get away.” He affirmed us.

This is diffidently our little getaway.
