Ryan Robertson One Shot (Christina)

My flat wasn’t as clean as I first thought it was. I tried as quickly as possible to fix the messy living room and pick up the empty cartons of Chinese take out that were all over the floor. I didn’t even want to see the kitchen. Letting out a huge sigh I decided to go ahead and get it over with I didn’t want Ryan to come home to this.

He was coming home from a small tour in the States. It was a bitter sweet feeling knowing that I couldn’t go with him. Before he left he kept apologizing, but I knew it wasn’t his decision. I remember how jealous I was the day he told me that he was in my home state.

All the memories of how I met him came back to me and I could almost relive the moment. We talked on the phone for about an hour. He stood at the same spot that he had seen me first. I can still feel the butterflies in my stomach as intense as it was a few years ago when I met him. He told me over and over again everything that he was thinking when we stared at each other for the first time. Damn, every single time that I thought about it I smiled. The jealousy would fade because I would rather be here waiting for him to come home than being at in the States without him.

I finished drying the last plate and I headed towards our room to clean up. He would be here anytime and I wanted to look nice for him. I took a quick shower and changed into the shirt that he said looked best on me. Excitement grew within me; he should be here any moment now. I took deep breaths and tried to calm myself down. I made my way back to now the clean living room and I sat down to watch the telly for a moment.

The sun was beginning to set and I was getting worried. I needed him to hurry home already. My phone was mocking me from across the room on the coffee table, but I didn’t dare to call him. He was most likely tired. So, I kept still until I heard keys jingling from the other side of the door. I’ve never gotten up so quickly in my life. My hands were shaking as I finished opening the door for him.

“Welcome home, babe!” I called out.

An immediate smile spread on his face. His curly hair was messy and there were slight dark circles under his eyes.

“Hello, I missed you!” His arms were already around me and spinning me around.

“How was it? Where did you go? What was your favorite show?” The questions just spilled out of my mouth. I just needed to know everything!

He chuckled and went back to pick up his bag that he had let go at the door.

“I will tell you everything, but first come and kiss me; I’ve missed them.”

Again, I ran up to him and I hugged up tightly as I kissed him. It had been a long month without him. The sparks were there just like that first time we kissed. The jolt of electricity ran through my veins and ignited them even more. My whole body was on fire every time that I was around him.

“Come on.” He held my hand as he guided me to our couch. “I’ll tell you everything.” He laid down and I cuddled next to him.

“We started with this lovely place in Washington DC…” I kept quiet as he continued to describe everything he explored. I found out that his favorite gig was the one they played in NYC. He said the atmosphere was just like he thought it would full of life and rhythm. I kept laughing every time that he pronounced a city wrong.

Slowly his descriptions came slower, “And so, we got to Ohio. I thought of you all the time.” He yawned and I knew he had stayed awake for me. “I missed you the most when I was there.” He continued.

I looked up to him and saw that his eyes were already closed. Quietly I got up and brought him a blanket. He was so tired, but I was so happy that he got to live his life to the fullest.

I bent down and kissed his forehead slowly.

“I love you, Ryan.” I whispered. “I’m so glad you made it home safe.”

I was already walked back to my room when I heard him slowly respond, “I love you too, Christina. I’m happy you’re my home.”
