He's a mer?!
Jungkook immediately stood up and ran behind the boulder. He couldn't believe his eyes.
He leant on the boulder before pinching himself in the elbows and in the arms. It hurt, that means it was real, right? This isn't a dream, right?
He kept quiet and tried to calm his breathing. He strained his ears to listen to the mer's whereabouts. The cries have subsided. All he can hear was shuffling.
It went on for about a few more minutes which made him curious on what's going on. But before he could subtly peek..
"AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!"
He immediately stood up and rushed over to the other side of the boulder to find out what is happening. He looked at the now sobbing mer. He had a beautiful navy blue tail which shined in the sunset rays. Then Jungkook noticed a silver substance dripping down his side.
There was a fishing net stuck to his tail.
As the mer moved, the net could've pulled and tore some of his scales. But his side had a rather nasty graze, right next to it was a broken hanger, tangled in the net. People really have to stop polluting the ocean.
"Okay, uh.." Jungkook panicked as he carefully knelt down beside the mer so as not to startle him. He couldn't risk somebody else seeing them. Upon noticing him doing this, all of a sudden the mer stopped crying and stared at Jungkook's face with his teary slitted eyes.
Jungkook, not knowing what to do, sat down beside the mer's tail and tried to help him. He figured out how to remove the broken hanger and to untangle the net from the creature's tail.
He positioned himself near the mer's side, who watched his every move with a careful gaze.
"This is going to hurt a bit.." Jungkook said. "Here."
He gave his towel for the mer to bite on as he removes the wire hanger piercing the mer's side. Jungkook looked at the wound until he deemed it safe to pull the horrible thing out swiftly yet carefully. Then he pulled out a swiss knife from his pocket and cut the net, noticing the slight flinch in the mer's movements upon seeing it.
He scoured his bag for the lengthy bandage he always brought as per his mother's nagging. He never knew he would actually be needing this someday- well, maybe not for himself.
He wrapped it around the mer's tail, taking caution as he did. He was amazed at how the creature kept calm- aside from the occasional whimpers of pain which also pained the human- albeit he just sustained an injury that even Jungkook is afraid of getting.
After he finished dressing the mer's wound, Jungkook plopped down beside the mer.
He waited for this for so long- meeting someone from the people of the sea- yet he just realized that he didn't even have a plan on what he was going to do upon meeting one of their race. He got so caught up in looking for them that he forgot to prepare even just a simple introduction.
As if the mer was reading his thoughts, he suddenly spoke in a deep but gentle voice, interrupting Jungkook's train of thoughts.
"What are you thinking about, Jungkook?"
