Jungkook opened his eyes right in time with the third cockerel crowing to the sunrise. He looked at the ceiling, as if daydreaming about his time spent with Taehyung, an actual merman, yesterday.
'What a coincidental encounter', he thinks. If the other wasn't struck with a broken clothes hanger, and if he hadn't gone to school that day.. he doesn't want to know.
The time on his clock says it's about 5 in the morning, and so he stood up and got himself ready. He was supposed to go to the university to apply for a trial in order to be an intern of the famed marine biologist in their school. Saying that he was excited was an understatement. The boy was jumping on his nerves.
Not to mention the amount of joy and fulfillment he took home last night, for he finally got to meet not just someone, but one absolutely more than that- the person of his dreams. Well, half person, to be specific. He had been slightly scolded by his mother for not getting home earlier, too, but it doesn't matter (he didn't say that he met a mer, by the way. He wants to plan how his mother would meet a mer, although he was this close to telling her). Neither does not getting a wink of sleep. Obviously, he had a good time that day.
..........
On the other hand, Taehyung didn't have it very well. Sure, he was eternally grateful for having to meet the boy he had been stalking- wait, that sounds wrong- guiding from school, everyday. That night, seeing as he came back home a bit later than usual, he had to face the wrath of his older brother. He was greeted by a scepter being waved like a broom, like how the old women in land do to scare chickens out of their yards.
"Where have you been?!" Seokjin asked him angrily, his brown furrowing, an indication of another scolding.
The last time he got scolded was when he turned a storage cart over, when one of the officials was transferring his things to another hall. He suddenly swam in, turns out he was just playing chase with a clownfish. But the elder's words were pretty much caring, although masked in anger.
"You've been watching over that human again, aren't you? Taehyung..." Seokjin sighed in exasperation. He had already warned his brother of overstaying in land. Knowing the events in history, he had always been worried about his brother's well-being. Just the fact that they weren't with each other is enough to claw at his mind every minute of the day.
Taehyung saw how he had worried his brother sick, if the tears welling up in his eyes is anything to go by. He went to pull him into an embrace.
"Hyung, you don't need to worry about me. I'm nearing adulthood, can't you see? Twenty in a few months, don't worry your pretty head over nothing." He said with his arms wrapped around his brother's neck.
Seokjin sniffed and wiped his tears. "I know... it's just that, mother, she-"
"I know, I understand. I promise to be careful hyung. I just wish she gets better soon... and I wish I get to see my Jungkook more!" Taehyung complains.
"You've wished for it, might as well get to see him tomorrow, 'cause he'll definitely be there tomorrow."
"H-how do you know that? Really?" Taehyung asked, eyes wide in excitement. "How can you be sure?"
"Well, a certain blond fish chattered about how his best friend had been coming over to the seashore again..." the older trailed off. "I'm sleeping. Good night!" he said as he immediately swam away.
It took the younger to realize what the other meant.
"Ah, Jimin!"
..........
Jungkook walked to school as usual, getting one of his favorite muffins from the bakery he passes by everyday. He ate as he walked, not even concerned by the fact that he just ate before he left. Nah, there's always room for food.
As he munched on his way, his thoughts went to a certain half-fish person. He remembers how the other looked extremely beautiful, with those golden teardrops that made him shine. Those shimmering scales on his long tail. Those rock hard ab--
He choked on a blueberry from the muffin he was eating. Why he did, he doesn't know the reason. It most definitely wasn't because of his fantasizing with the first mer he ever met. Wait, NO. Fantasizing is such a disrespectful word, he thought. Admiring would be a better term.
He was nearing his school, and just in time, he just finished what he was eating. He threw the liner to the nearest trash bin and walked inside the school gates. He knew he had to do better so he can already meet the person of his dreams.
"But haven't I just met the person of my dreams yesterday?"
