"Then, I am very grateful. I am joyful that you have existed and that I have met you."

Jungkook's froze for a moment. The sudden declaration and the accompanying sincerity brought him to a stop.

"O-Oh. Did I make you uncomfortable, Jungkook?" Taehyung asked with such elegance, still not letting go of Jungkook's wrist.

"I-I-I'm fine! Haha. Really fine, right, yes."

"Jungkook, why is your face as red as this rose?" Taehyung asked, getting worried. Jungkook laughed nervously while gently pulling his arm from the other's hold. He stood up straight and looked at anything but the mer.

"Don't mind it hehe. But I really have to go, don't worry, I'm fine! I have to see my mentor. See you tomorrow!" He bowed then rushed up ontop of the boulder, then set off running towards the road.

While he did so, cat-like eyes gazed on Jungkook's retreating form, surprised as to where he came from. But he shrugged and drove off, having something more important to take care of.

..........

"Jungkook, why are you panting?" Namjoon, one of Jungkook's mentors went and brought him a glass of water. He sat him down and handed the paper cup (because the ocean is dying and they couldn't risk it by using more plastic) while the younger caught his breath.

"I ran all the way here, I went to the other side of town." Jungkook answered finally, gulping all the water.

"Yoongi hyung isn't here yet, but I guess it's okay to give you your next assignment."

Jungkook squealed in excitement at getting another assignment. Because every time he did, he got the chance to dive down the sea and see the majestic creatures beneath the surface of the water. He jumped up from his seat and received the folder handed to him.

"Thinking about it, it is simple, but it is risky. You only have to attach these thermosensors under the artificial stone reefs installed thirty feet below, about four miles from the shore. You know where it is, yeah?" Jungkook nodded his head.

Namjoon continued. "That's that, but the current might make it difficult, so we're gonna have to pick the perfect time. We're gonna be there, so don't you worry."

Jungkook closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
"I can do this," he whispered to himself.

He seemed to be calm but the older wasn't having it. He called the younger and asked him again.

"Jungkook, are you sure you're going?" The younger looked at him, eyes flaming with determination and answered with a nod. "Yes, I am sure."

"Well then, you may go. We have three days at least. I will contact you if there is any sudden changes."

Jungkook muttered a 'thank you' in return and went to go home.

Namjoon sat in front of his monitor and sighed upon hearing the door close. But after a few minutes, he heard it bursting open because of none other than his partner, Yoongi.

He sat with his eyes closed, hearing occasional taps on the keyboard and sheets being ripped off from note pads. This kind of situation is normal, and Namjoon didn't seem to mind anymore.

"Hey, what's poppin'?" He glanced sideways at the other who was busy sorting his papers out.

"Hmm. Nothing." Yoongi replied while typing away words which Namjoon didn't know the use of.

"Still looking?" Yoongi hummed.

"Where did you go?" Namjoon asked.

"To the other side of town."

"And what did you see?" Yoongi hummed once more.

"Hyung.." Namjoon started, but Yoongi glared at him. He groaned. "Do you really believe in them?"

"Don't start."

"Do you think they even exist?"

"Namjoon."

"Do you realize you're probably wasting your time?"

"Stop."

"Do you still believe that mers exist just because you survived from that accident on the cliff, on that rainy day? You don't think it could've been a small possibility? You—

Yoongi grabbed the younger's collar and held him back, shutting him up.

"Yes I do! I believe that they exist, Joon! I was falling, falling into the fucking ocean! How do you survive that, knowing that you're falling into a thousand foot deep ocean without anything- or anyone- to save you, then you suddenly show up miraculously alive?! Without any scratches, Joon!"

Namjoon kept silent. Yoongi continued.

"I was supposed to die, Namjoon. I-I was going to die. I thought that was the end. My end. But no, that creature saved me. I.. I never felt so happy to be alive.."

He trailed off with a sob. He weakly let go off of Namjoon's collar and went to fix his things. But before he could, Namjoon dragged him to an embrace.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I-I didn't know how you felt- I didn't think of what you felt. All I thought was about how you never seemed to sleep anymore. But I promise. I'm going to help you. I'm so sorry hyung, I'm really, really sorry." He buried his face on Yoongi's shoulder while mumbling apologies. He never seemed to stop, until Yoongi pulled away.

"Please keep your word." Yoongi said, and Namjoon smiled at him with the tear tracks on his face brought forth by guilt, dipping on the parts where his dimples were.

"I always do."
