12.) nothing like a calming walking in the forest, enjoying the sun setting, a nice cool breeze.. - we're on a mission not a romantic walk.
9.) it's so strange that autumn is so beautiful, yet everything is dying.
5.) I swear you never graduated kindergarten.
Steve fuckingbillYou walked amongst the reds, yellows and vibrant oranges, the soft sound of leaves crunching under your feet. The air was crisp, the waning sunlight casting you and your companion in a warm glow that always seemed to be reserved for autumn. If it weren't for being in full gear, it would of been better. You sighed heavily to yourself, your steps falling inline with the good ole Captain next to you.
"It's so strange that autumn is so beautiful, when everything is dying." You remarked, not getting an answer.
"Nothing like a calming walk through the forest, enjoying the sun setting, a nice cool breeze." You said softly, trying to get a response from him.
"We're on a mission not a romantic walk." Steve retorted, almost like you could hear his eyes roll.
"Training mission." You corrected him, walking up and standing behind the giant rock outcropping. Steve joined you hunkering down a bit so his height wasn't seen above it.
"Doesn't matter that this is just training, you need to act like this is an actual mission." He stated, looking over at you, crystal blues peering up.
"And you and I both know I would still say that on an actual mission." You retort, tilting your head and raising your brows.
"And you and I both know that mouth of yours has blown our cover more then once." He snipped back, there no malice in his words only humor.
"I blew our cover only once, Rogers, and that was Clint's fault for getting me riled up." You responded peeking up over the edge of the boulder.
You could see the outlines of your 'opponents' trying to keep flush with trees up a head. From the silhouette it was probably Wanda, which was not the adversary you would of hoped for. Actually she was the last one you would of wanted to go toe to toe with.
The team was broken down into groups of two, usually a strong leader mixed with someone who need more work. Today you were paired up with Steve, Wanda was paired with Bucky, Clint with Tony. The bonus was Steve would know how Bucky thought, so getting them out of the way would be perfect.
Where as Wanda was great at distorting your reality, making you believe everything was different as it seemed. You could actually distort reality, conjuring the elements for them to fight. You didn't like using your powers, that made you feel weak, like it was the only reason they had brought you on. They had been trying to get you comfortable using them, saying that you were more then capable of handling yourself in a fight. That what you needed to do was control your magic.
"I know you there." Wanda called out, you snickered to yourself. Steve slapped his palm to his head as you jumped on top of the boulder, you saw wisps start to form from the other woman's fingertips.
The wind kicked up a bit, catching your hair lightly as yellow smoke danced from the tips of yours. You smirked as your stared her down, you could see the red growing between her palms.
"Let's level the playing field." She stated, a red blast was flung your direction, you didn't move. You suddenly jerk your hands up, the earth before you exploding upwards, taking in the red energy.
You slammed your fist down down into the air, the soil falling hard back the earth as you brought your hands back. A deep yellow glow forming around your wrists.
"I need this Capt." You stated, not bothering to look back as the shield was ripped from his back, suddenly being hurtled at Wanda. Bucky sprung from his cover, catching the spinning vortex of a patriotic frisbee. "Nice catch, Elsa."
"I swear you never graduated kindergarten." Steve remarked, hoisting himself over the boulder.
"What?" You asked as Wanda sent another blast toward you.
"Hey now!" You shrieked, laughter filling your words as you jumped just in time to see bits of rock explode. "I wasn't ready, not nice Wanda."
You reached toward the earth, slowly pulling at the soil beneath your feet, your eyes glowing green as traces of green wisps began to come up towards your hands. Ivy began to sprout around her feet, wrapping and snaking, holding her place as you caught sight of Bucky and Steve to go at it in hand to hand.
Wanda sent a blast down around her ankles to try and fight the vines off, as your one hand continued to pull the green smoke up from the ground making the ivy grow and wrap as fast as she could destroy it you looked to the skies. Your other hand turned to the heavens, blue mist poured from your open palm. The clouds began to dark as the first few rain droplets began to cascade down to the earth.
Wanda's head snapped up as her attempt to free herself paused, she looked at you, mouth slight open. It was the first time you had used two elements at once, usually using one was enough to pull all of your energy from your body. Bucky and Steve both stopped, turning to watch as the rain began to get heavier soaking the four of you. The vines grew up around Wanda's knees and then slowly started to shrivel.
"Y/n!" Steve yelled, shield in hand as he started to run toward you. "That's enough."
Once you had started the storm you had lost control, suddenly you brought your second hand up next to your other one. The vines instantly dying around Wanda as you focused on the pitch black clouds above you. Blue mist poured down around you from both palms as you desperately tried to stop the rain, to stop the raging storm. Wind kicking up around you leaves being blown up from the ground racing around you in circles. The rain pelting you hard as Steve neared you could feel the crackle on the tips of your fingers.
"Back away!" You screamed, Steve skidded to a stop five feet from you as lighting licked down, arching from your finger tips. Your eyes turning white for a brief moment before turning back to normal. The boom of thunder rocked the forest as you were thrown back to the ground at Steve's feet.
"Jesus!" He dropped to his knees, pulling you up. He looked over your body as you blinked hard for a moment, red lines formed a crossed your arm matching the pattern of lighting. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, just a little shocked." You responded wide eyed as the rain began to subside, clouds lightening.
"Seriously? Puns?" He asked, letting out a heavy sigh, shaking his head.
'Is everything okay?' Clint came though Steve's ear piece as you pulled your fired one out and tossed it to the ground. 'Did Steve's girl do the freak storm?'
"Yeah, she did and she's done." He replied looking at you helping you to your unsteady feet as he stood. "You're grounded for the rest of the day."
