A gasp shook me. I started running as fast as I could toward the breakfast hall. How couldn't I see this sooner? I burst through the door. Lots of eyes stared at me...but I didn't care. Khann started coming towards me. "Khann..." I shook. I was out of breath. "Come here. Now." My voice was full of authroity. I started walking back out the door grabbing an apple on my way. I led him back to the mission room. "Play...play Pipers death." I told him.
"Why?" Khann questioned me.
"Because I asked you too!" I yelled. A startled expression crossed his face. Frustration clouded my thoughts. Khann moved towards a computer and plugged in a USB. Within a few moments the footage was playing. I choked back tears. Piper moved swiftly down the halls careful of her footing. Then she fell. Something had hit her from behind. A man came into the screen. I leaned down and paused it. Just what I had thought. I looked at Khann. Realization sparked into his eyes. I pointed to the screen. A rebel symbol was sewn...on the man's coat. I unpaused it and continued to watch. The man took Piper's gun that lay in between her laced fingers, and started running back to where he had came from. Then it stopped. My body shuddered. Before I opened my mouth to speak Khann spoke words that sent chills through my body.
"Traitor."
"It was one of us. You could tell by the coat. Only generals get those. And no rebel general was assigned to this mission..." My voice trailed off, lost in thought. Instead of saying anything more I just moved and leaned against Khann. I pulled him in for a gentle hug. It felt nice to have someone close, who you loved and could trust.
"We have to find him. And make sure her death wasn't for nothing." I whispered. "You in?"
"Absouletely, partner."*thanks for reading!!!***
