A little over a month later
I am pretty sure the girls have noticed the distance between Adekaide and I. But they haven't questioned anything. I think they know that something is up but they also know it isn't their business so they don't want to pry. Which I appreciate. As much as I love them, whenever my smile slightly falters, they worry. So for them to not say anything about this, it takes a lot.
But it also shows how great of friends that I have. My friends at home could not tell the difference between my real smile and laugh to my fake. The fact that I have known these four girls for two months and they know me so well makes me so happy.
This Friday is the Fall concert, so for the past week I have taken extra time to practice. The music is easy, so it is not like I am having trouble. However, if I go a day without playing, my whole rhythm will be thrown off. Only practicing a few times during the first month of the school year was very bad for me.
Right now I am sitting with Logan at the quad. She is drawing something while I finish reading Pride and Prejudice; we finish the unit this week.
"Hey look at this," Logan says. She hands me her notebook to look at her drawing.
When so look at the paper, I see the campus, in perfect detail. One of the best works of art I have ever seen in my life. And to think, Logan drew this in the past half an hour. This girl has real talent. She does this stuff like she is simply walking.
"Dude," I say in awe. "This...this. This is amazing. I have no words."
She laughs. "Yeah, thanks."
"What are you going into?" I ask.
"Graphic design."
"So you are going into art? That's good. You could be the next Picasso, man." I say seriously.
"Nah, I am more of a Bob Ross kind of gal." She grins.
I laugh out loud. "You are too much. Now let's go to dinner and I will gush to the girls about this."
We get our belongings together and head towards the dining hall. Me, still, rambling about her art. Her, trying to get me to stop.
As soon as I walk up to the table I open my mouth. "Guys, Logan is the shit at drawing." I set my things on the table and everyone starts laughing.
"Yeah Willow, we know. We are surprised you haven't figured it out." Robin says. "We may have attended school with her for the past three years, but, Willow, you love with her."
We all laugh and I snort. Which causes us all to continue laughing even longer and harder. And I hear a voice behind me.
"So who's the pig? I thought the animals were in the barn." I turn around to see Adelaide smiling. "So, can I sit with y'all? I haven't chat with you girls in awhile and I want to catch up."
Yes, it has been awhile. She decided to just keep her distance in general.
The girls all look at me, making sure I am okay. I give a small smile and Sierra says yes. And to my luck, the only free seat is next to me.
It's not that I dislike Adelaide, obviously I do not considering my feelings towards her. But I am a very awkward person. I don't know how to act in tough situations, and sitting with her in this close setting for the first time in a month, is a tough situation.
"So how is everyone?" Adelaide asks. Leaning forward in her seat with her arms crossed on the table.
"I got an A in science!" Spencer exclaims. "I am taking Physics so that should make more sense."
