(Third P.O.V)

Overcome with curiosity of the strange letter (how did whoever sent it know where she slept?), Amie turned the envelope and broke the peculiar seal without looking at it. If she had, she would've seen an eagle, a badger, a lion and a snake surrounding the letter H. Amie turned the envelope upside down and shook it. Out fell three pieces of paper - she picked up the first, turned it the right way and read:

"HOGWARTS SCHOOL of WITCHCRAFT and WIZARDRY
Headmaster: ALBUS DUMBLEDORE
(Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorc., Chf Warlock, Supreme Mugwump, International Confed. of Wizards)

Dear Ms. Jones
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment. Term begins on September 1. We await your owl by no later than July 31. Yours sincerely,

Minerva McGonagall
Deputy Headmistress"

Amie was shocked. How could this be possible? Her mother must be trying to prank her, she simply couldn't believe this was true. She picked up the other letters. One was a list of books and equipment, so Amie put it aside for the time being. The other was hand-written:

"Dear Ms. Jones
My name is Minerva McGonagall, Transfigurations teacher and Deputy Headmistress at Hogwarts.

Since your parents are muggles - non-magic people - I am to come to your house at 11 o'clock tomorrow and explain this for them - and you - and take you to buy all of your things for school.
Yours sincerely, Professor McGonagall. "

"Well?" Amie's mother demanded. Amie didn't know what to tell her, was she allowed to say something before this Professor did?
"Uh, I don't think I'm supposed to say just yet... A woman will come here tomorrow and explain things for you, can you wait until then?" Amie asked catiously.
"I suppose.. But you're not in trouble at school are you? You know your father and I won't stand for that." Anne scowled.
"No, nothing like that, I promise." Amie answered her mother and continued with her breakfast. Her head was buzzing with questions now - she didn't think this was a joke anymore, so it must be true. It sure answered a lot of questions about things that seemed to happen around Amie. Come to think of it, most things couldn't be explained as anything else but magic, it was all very strange. One time at school, when the school-bully set his eyes on Amie as his next victim, he was suddenly blasted away from her and landed with a thud several feet away. Nobody ever dared to pick on her after that, and Amie found herself without friends as well. No one wanted to be friends with a psycho. Several other strange things had happened around her, which only drove people away further, but Amie decided to not think of it at the moment. It made her sad, and she wanted her birthday to be happy.
"When you're done with breakfast, you can open your present." Anne said and put a little box on the table. Amie was speechless. When she opened the package she found a delicate silver heart necklace with her intitials on it. A.J.

The next day Amie woke up very early. She was so excited! She knew her parents wouldn't be up yet, they would sleep in because they didn't have any plans except meeting Professor McGonagall today, so instead of going downstairs, Amie started pacing in her room. She did this for about a quarter of an hour, but then she couldn't take it anymore, so she threw on a t-shirt, a pair of shorts and her sneakers and snuck downstairs through the front door. She ran down the street, stretching her legs and arms. Running was what Amie did whenever she was nervous, or sad, and it made her feel good. She planned on running for at least an hour, but when Amie came back from her running it was already ten o'clock. She had been running for two hours straight, and her parents were bound to be awake by now. Amie opened the front door and walked into the kitchen, panting.

"WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!?" Amie's parents, who were sitting at the kitchen table, shouted at her. Amie jumped high into the air and covered her ears with her hands.
"I've been out running, why?" Amie answered, and her parents shared a look.
"Amie, we woke up and found you were missing - we thought you'd been kidnapped." Anne said, and she actually had tears in her eyes, which made Amie shocked.
"Uhh, well, I'm not, so no worries." Amie said, attempting a smile.
"Um, let's not fight about this, okay?" Amie's father said to Anne, having seen her open her mouth to shout. "Hurry up and take a shower, Amie - you said that woman would come here in an hour, right?"
"Oh! Yes - right!" Amie said, perfectly happy again. She practically skipped out of the room. An hour later she was dressed and ready, waiting anxiously by the door. She had even been to nervous to eat anything, even though her stomach growled of hunger. After a particularly loud grumble she heard a soft knock on the door and hastened to open it. Outside stood a very odd woman indeed: She had her hair drawn back in a tight bun, an emerald cloak and square glasses. Amie's first thought was that she was very strict, so she decided it was best to be polite to her.
"Good morning. I believe you are Miss Jones?" McGonagall said.
"Yes, that's me, Professor." Amie answered, opening the door wide so she could come in.
"Where are your parents, Miss Jones?"
"In the kitchen. Follow me, please," Amie said, leading the way.
