I ran after Nakia as she believed Okoye would come with us. I knew she wouldn't, I knew she couldn't betray her country no matter what was happening. Okoye wraps her arms around Nakia's neck before she hugged me tightly. "The Queen mother and Shuri, they are safe?" She asks tears in her eyes as she holds both of our hands.
"Yes," I answer she nods
"Enkosi," She whispers dropping my hand turning to look out the window. Nakia goes to pull her along
"We should get to them immediately," Nakia says Okoye's eyes widen
"Andinokwazi," Okoye says looking from Nakia to me
"What?" Nakia asks in shock
"Though my heart is with you," She pulls her hand from Nakia's grip
"We cannot turn over our nation to a man who showed up here only hours ago," Nakia speaks with disbelief written all over her face.
"He is of royal blood," Okoye defends
"He killed T'Challa," I winced squeezing my eyes shut not wanting cry once more.
"In ritual combat!" She defends once more
"Does that really matter," I jumped at the sound of her voice rising an octave before jumping back down. I grabbed Nakia's hand. "You are the greatest warrior Wakanda has. Help me overthrow him before he gets too strong,"
"Nakia," I whispered but Okoye had replied
"Overthrow?" She says in disbelief "Nakia, I'm not a spy that can come and go as they so choose, I am loyal to that throne, no matter who sits upon it. What are you loyal too?" She asks looking at the both of us "Ayana you cannot tell me you wouldn't do the same for your country," I cast my eyes to the floor before looking back up at the women in front of me.
"I loved him, I loved him with everything in me, and now he's gone and our story is over. It's not about who I am loyal to anymore, Okoye, it's about what I believe," I replied looking at her the trail of tears fell down her face as they did mine "I love my country, but this isn't my country Okoye, this is T'Challa's and he wouldn't want everything this country stands for to be twisted by some man who holds a personal hatred for something that had happened 30 years ago. No matter if he is of Royal blood,"
"Nakia, who are you loyal to," She asks after the silence from my rant
"I loved him like I do my brothers and sisters. I loved my country too,"
"Than you serve your country,"
"No I save my country," Nakia says before turning and leaving the throne room. I go to follow her stop looking to Okoye who stood with tears on her cheeks as she stood she looked at me.
"I don't blame you Okoye, you are my sister and I respect that you have to stay but Wakanda's story is not over, usisi," I say before nodding at her and leaving after Nakia.
