Sunday church ends well and Savanna feels satisfied with it and begins to realize her father was wrong in many way. He did not practice the beliefs mormons have on families or follow the good prompting of this Holy Ghost they kept talking about.
"I want to know more," Savanna says at the dinner table. Dan is shocked, Sam and his dad are smirking.
"Well we know just the men to come over and teach you,"
"Are they the men in black with name tags and suits. I met them a while back and they seemed a little pushy, at least the younger one," Savanna grimaced though she also thought he was cute but was not going to tell her boyfriend that.
"Those are the to in fact we signed up to have the for dinner on Thursday," his father stated. I take a huge bite from my fried chicken wing and it was the best food she had ever tasted in years oily, fragrant, and crunchy right to the final chew.
She slowly swallowed and said "Really that would be great and I can clean the house while you guys are at school and work.'
"Oh, you are going back to school Sam printed a schedule and it is the same as his since you have been homeschooling yourself. You should still be able to graduate with them in a month," his dad retorts back at her and she grins but then is haunted by some daunting memories of the last time she walked through those halls and Milly and her friends ripped her clothes because they were worn and baggy.
"You can borrow my t shirts and my mom's jeans for school darling I will make sure everyone remembers how amazing you are. You will be surprised how many people asked about you when you left," Sam said as he grabbed her now empty plate and put it in the dishwasher.
"Okay that works how do we get to school," Savanna asks and his father grabs out a bored game for them all to play CLUE.
"I drive of course," he says showing her his license of him looking dashing and his hair slicked back.
"I love clue and sweet I am nervous but excited thank you guys so much," Savanna says picking up professor plum and claiming him as her character. Next to black purple is her favorite color. As time passes she wins it was Sam (Reverend Green) in the ballroom with the candlestick.
"Sounds the twisted tail of beauty and the beast," Sam says and they all laugh and go to sepearate rooms to get dressed.
"Savvy, you can have my bed and I will have the couch and feel free to wear my shirt from today only we saw it anyway. You can do that every Monday," he says with a smirk and caresses her cheek bone with his lips and lands them on her lips.
"Goodnight sweetie," she says.
"Goodnight angel," he says and they go to sleep.
She wakes up to the smeel of bacon and waffles and hurries to hop the nearest shower and sees the make up and she slows a little. She does the same as yesterday except this time pink and french braids her long black hair and heads to the table.
"Seminary must be early but I am excited," she says scarfing the food down and Sam walks out with a leather jacket, batman t-shirt and black jeans.
"You look way better in that shirt than I do," he says as he sits down and Savvy just rolls her eyes as he scarfs down his food and they head to the just to drive across the street.
"It is nice be next to her so I do not have to get up as early as other kids though her own daughters are often late," Sam says with a giggle and goes right in the door. Savanna is baffeled that he just walks in and heads downstairts where old brown desks are set up and the woman who spoke yester day sister Rima was at the front of the room a white woman married to a black american and had five daughters.
"Good morning you were the visitor my daughter was telling me about. As you know I am Sister Rima or you can call me Tammy, please sit in our open desk by Sam. We are happy to have you," she says and slowly everyone she met yesterday older than fourteen trickeled in.
"Nicole will you give us an opening prayer," she says and begins praying.
Okay today we begin with Ether twelve which is when ether the prophet at the time which for Savvy and many years after Christ's death encouraged the people to be righteous," she says.
They go on throughout th lesson about ether and faith and how it is an action. They finish off with a single verse Ether 12 :27
"Now this is what is known as a scripture mastery, and it means that God will strengthen our weaknesses if we repent and have faith, what I have hear is a bag full of burdens. Homework, peer pressure, sinning, loss, anxiety, depression. Someone want to come and hold it," she asks and Savvy voluneteers intrigued by the methods of her teacher.
"Now Sam come help your girlfriend by lifting her burdens andd you are God," she says and he stampers up to the front and takes them out until there is ne left to represent homework.
"Savvy is this lighter and easier to bear?" she asks and Savvy answers yes.
"This is what God does, he does not make them disappear but he makes them easier, Savvy would you like to give us a closing prayer?" she asks and she notoriously answers yes.
