Savvy looks curious and wants to know more for herself so she asks "May i have my own book of Mormon?"
"Of course, " Elder Young says with a smirk and handing her the Book of Mormon that is in his left hand.
She begins by reading the introduction that makes her swell which continues as shee reads all the testimonies.
As she starts the first chapter of Nephi Sam sits by her and grabs her hand while asking "How do you like it so far?"
"I have only read the introduction parts but those were interesting and mind bottling," she says with a smirk and then redirects her eyes back on the text that is talking of Nephi's goodly parents.
"Let us no when you are at chapter three that is one we want to read and discuss this with you," Elder Young states. As she reads the darkness and hole in her soul seems to ravish away and she sees hope that faith may be her way out of her depths of sorrow and a place she may belong.
"May I highlight anything in this book?" she asks them grabbing a pencil from her pocket.
"We would love it if you were to do this please do," they both say in unison and she highlights the last verse of the 1 Nephi chapter one. To the side she writes 'God gives us all mercy if we are truly faithful to him.' She then reads on in chapter two. As she reads she begins to realize she has often been like these Laman and Lemuel guys because she never understood why God took her mom so she used to blame him for everything after that. She found herself tearing up as she prayed to God to ask for forgiveness.
"I have finished chapter two," she says to Elder Young who is smiling as another tear rolls down her cheek.
"All right I will read the heading the first verse then my companion will read two and three Sam four five, and you six seven then we will pause and discuss what is being said," Elder young says and begins reading from the Book of Mormon and they all read there verses and end at seven. Before they can finish the discussion a doctor erupts from the double doors and Calls for the Evans family and Missy. Tears stroll down her cheeks as she continues her way up and he whispers something to all of them and they all cry joyfully.
"Your blessing worked they said he is going to be okay," Missy says hugging Sam's dad and kissing Sam's cheek.
"Thank you both see you Sunday," they say walking back towards their son with smiles upon their faces.
"So what does this last verse tell you about Nephi's character?" Elder Young's companion asked.
"It tells me that his character is good and strong, along with faithful, he believes God gives us trials that he knows we can overcome as long as we remain faithful," she says.
"Exactly, now these plates they are trying to obtain are with a wicked guy named Laban, who is the ruler that creates the downfall of Jerusalem," Elder Young says.
"How would you feel in this predicament?" his companion then asks.
"Overwhelmed and that I was not qualified to do such a hard job and would only disappoint my heavenly father," Savvy says sorrowfully.
"You know that is okay because that is how Laman and Lemuel felt but they murmered to God about it, when you would not. I would like to think I would be as willful as Nephi and courageous but I know in reality there is no way I would be. When I was in second grade I went another route home just so I could avoid the neighborhood bully and know that was okay but when confronted about my faith I would do my best to remain strong and loyal to my heavenly father," Elder Young said with a smirk as a tear strolled down his face.
"Have you ever done something courageous Savvy?" his companion asks.
"I am right now by learning about the faith my abusive father used to partake of.
"I am sorry he used to treat you that way it is wrong and sad," Elder young says. Then the doctor comes out with Dan in a wheelchair who is grinning ear to ear.
"Dan how do you feel?" Sam asks with a smirk.
"Lighter," he says and the whole rooms chuckles loudly.
"Will you two finish this chapter and the next together at home sometime and call us about scheduling another appointment?" Elder Young asks with a smirk writing down their number and handing it to Savvy.
"Yes," they say and hold hands as they make there way out to Sam's dad's car.
"Dad can we head by the school I need to get my car," he says as they drive on spring street.
"Yes we may," he responds and they turn left into the school parking lot.
"Savvy you wanna ride with me sweet tart," he says as she blushes, grins and nods yes. She hops out of their car and gets shotgun and his dad leaves first. She gets on his lap and they lock lips for a few minutes and then she gets back over and wipes the lipstick off of him and they drive home.
