Lucas's POV

I'm doomed.

i'm doomed.

i'm doomed.

i was called into the teacher's room a few minutes ago and i know that i'm doomed because that's the only reason why the teacher would ever want to find me.

i walked into the teacher's room where it was pin drop silence. everyone was quiet with a few students walking around, probably the student leaders.

" ah! yukhei! " i smiled awkwardly as i stood in front of mr kang with my hands behind my back.

he sighed, " i know you're a good student and i felt that maybe you're under stress or something these days but what happened ? "

i gulped, " nothing. "

" nothing ? then why were you in the bar yesterday ? i saw you there with my own eyes. " he said.

" but why were you ther- " i quickly shut my mouth when i realised that this is considered talking back and it's rude.

he sighed, " i've heard about what happened to leena and i'm really sad about it. " i felt like a knife just stabbed into my heart hearing about it.

leena is still unconscious, no one knows when will she ever wakes up and be her bright and bubbly self again.

" does your mom knows about your change in behaviour ? " i nodded slightly and he placed his hand on my shoulder.

he smiled, " lucas, i know you're a good student but for whatever reason that you're getting distracted. I hope that you understand how hard your mom is working to raise you. "

" and i know this might seem like rubbish to you now, but education is extremely important in this society now. without it, you're probably doomed unless you can make it big by being a basketballer or idol which isn't a flower road like they've said. " i nodded.

mr kang looked over at the clock, " it is not early anymore, you should head home now. your mom must be worry sick. "

i nodded and bowed before leaving the teachers room and going home. i placed my earphones into my ears as i played some songs.

i went straight home since my mom heard about leena and wants to see her as well. when we got to the hospital, we were told that,

she was transferred to the intensive care unit.

if you didn't know, you're only transferred there if your condition is pretty bad and it hurts me so much. the girl i love is lying on the bed inside the intensive care unit and it sucks even more when i'm the one who caused her to be there.

i looked over at leena's mom who is bawling her eyes out, i walked over and gave her a hug. " i'm so sorry, if she didn't look for me, she wouldn't- "

she shook her head, " this is all god's will but i'm really thankful that you were there to make her smile all the time. before she met you, she wasn't this bubbly. "

" leena likes you a lot and i know you feel the same towards her. i'm so sorry for wanting to separate you guys, i'm part of the reason why she's inside. " she looked into the room.

she smiled slightly, " don't put all the blame to yourself, yukhei. " she gave me a hug and i couldn't help it but a tear rolled down my cheek.

" you should go home now, it's getting late and there's school for you tomorrow. as for leena, i will take care of her. " her mom said.

i nodded as I went home with my mom.

" mom, how did you cope when dad was in that critical condition ? " i asked, even though i was a little hesitant since i know it was a tough period for my mom and i.

i heard she sniffed, " it wasn't easy and it definitely was a route that no one should take. i wanted to give up so badly but i know for a fact that i have a 5 years old child and i can't just let him be an orphan. "

" so i grabbed my luggage and you, bringing you to live a new life in a new city and have a fresh start in life. " i looked at my mom, seeing hint of tears in her eyes.

i gave my mom a tight hug, she've suffered a lot through the years and i didn't want her to suffer anymore.

" mom, i'm not going to let you suffer. i'm going to work hard and be a successful police man just like dad and i'm- "

she shook her head, " i don't want you to be a police man just like dad, i want you to be you. i want you to be yukhei, the basketball player. "

my mom knew for a fact that i'm into basketball and that's my dream route. at the start, she didn't want to support me and my dream so i was really shocked.

" i'm supporting you and giving you my full support. just remember that no matter what, i'll always have your back. no matter how tough the training is, just know that mom will always see you as the number one basketball player. " she said with a smile.

because of this day, i've decide to work hard in both my dream and my academics. i can't let people who care and support me feel disappointed by me.

ever since then, i've started to study everyday and practice my basketball skills everyday as well.

not to forget, going to the hospital everyday.

almost a year has passed but leena is still unconscious. the doctor told us to prepare for the worst, but i'm not going to prepare because i know she'll survive it.

i rubbed my eyes as i looked up to see the unconscious leena lying in front of me. i held her hands in mine, " i'm sorry that you're going through such a traumatic one year because of me. "

" you shouldn't have risked your life for me, you shouldn't be the one lying on the bed. i should be the one lying on the bed because i'm a jerk and i deserve it. " a tear escape my eye.

i placed my head on her hand, " i'm so sorry that you have to be in this state. "

" i'll always love you. "
