Mr. Owens stood his ground as Remi stood before him. She snarled at him, hearing a whisper in her ear and it was telling her to attack her father. She shook her head frantically, not wanting to listen to it. Before she hurt someone, she ran out the front door with the jersey in her mouth. She wasn't sure where she was going to go, but she knew it wasn't home for a while; it hurt her to leave her parents. She ran to the wooded area close to the beach, where Shiloh and her met and stayed hidden there.

The day had slowly passed and her fur was back to strawberry blonde, which made her calm. She poked her head up from the brush and she could see her home from where she was. Remi could see broken glass and blood coming from the front door to the sidewalk. Her heart raced and she panicked. 'What happened? Please tell me they're okay.' Remi pleaded in her thoughts.

Remi bolted home and she saw her mother in shambles in the living room, but her father nowhere to be seen. 'Mom, where's dad? What happened?' She could feel tears strolling down her fur.

"Sombers tried to take him...he struggled and he was injured badly. I called the ambulance and they left about an hour ago...I wanted to wait for you to tell you before I left to be by his side. You can choose to go to the game or not tonight, I won't force you to see your father tonight. I don't think he would want you to see him as weak as he was against those monsters," she choked. Remi rushed to her side and snuggled into her, Remi's tails wrapped around her mother's arm to try and relax the scared woman. "I will text you tonight if it's safe to come to the hospital after the game. I love you, Remi. Please stay safe and don't let them control you. I am go--" she was cut off by a warm embrace from Remi.

"I'm sorry...I left because I didn't want to hurt him...but he got hurt anyway...why do I have to be this way? Why do Sombers have to exist?" Remi broke down.

Her mother gently pet Remi's hair as she slowly shifted back to her human form, "I don't understand it either, princess. I just know it's not right. Did you hear that voice again?" Mrs. Owens asked still in tears, but not sobbing any more.

Remi nodded, but didn't say anything as to what it had said to her. She was very close to her mother, and she could talk about anything with her, especially anything that dealt with Somber's and Lucent's. Her body shook with fear as she continued to cry, "I--It told me t--to k--kill d--daddy," she managed to say. "Th--that's why I r--ran away...I didn't want to h--harm him...or you." Her mother rocked her back and forth, pulling Remi into her lap. Remi still shook, holding the jersey that belonged to Shiloh. "I don't want to leave you alone," she said softly.

Her mother smiled, "I know princess, but I can hold my own against those monsters if they come after me. If anything happens, you will feel it. Go to the game and watch Shiloh play. You can come to the hospital afterwards. Go be a regular teenager for once," she insisted.

Remi giggled and looked up at her mother, "When was I ever a regular teenager?" she hopped off her mother's lap, her bare feet landing on the soft carpet of their earth toned living room. She turned to her mom with a soft smile, "Thank you. Please keep me updated and please drive safely. I don't want you to get hurt too. I'm not sure what I would do if you both were taken from me."

Mrs. Owens stood up, brushing herself off, "I would never let that happen, Remington. They couldn't take me or your father no matter how hard they tried. Now go, before you,re late," she pushed Remi to her room to change into something warm before she said her goodbyes.

Remi chuckled and changed into a pair of dark skinny jeans, a long sleeved tee shirt and Shiloh's jersey over that. She grabbed her favorite pair of converse that were black that had a design with golden stars and a crescent moon as she left her universe styled room. She left her hair down, but pulled it back just a little with bobby pins to get it out of her face and put her dark colored glasses on. She went to the kitchen to say goodbye to her mother, but she had already left for the hospital. "I didn't hear her leave...that's strange." she commented to herself. Remi saw a note and some money on the kitchen table before she left. 'Please have fun and I will text you about your father when I know more. I love you, my little princess. Tell Shiloh your father and I say hello. See if you can get a ride from his mother, do not walk to the hospital. It's dangerous out there. Stay safe. Love, Mom.' Remi smiled and grabbed the forty bucks in cash that she had left her. She left the house, keys in hand and locked the door as she left. "It's game time."
