Tom had decided to look for Bing in an obvious place. It had been several days of looking for him, so why not? He went to Bing's old lab. He probably wasn't there, but maybe something else helpful was.
He pushed open the doors and immediately was greeted with the sight of abandonment; dust and cobwebs everywhere. As if this door and hall hadn't seen fresh air or sunlight in years. That was probably true..
Walking forwards, coughing from the stale air and dust, Tom approached the stairs. The bottom few floors had always been Bing's laboratory. The further he went down the stairs, the worse it smelled. He couldn't pin point why until he recognized it as decay.
Something was dead down here, and had been for a long time. What had happened here? Tom froze on the last few steps. Did he really want to go down here in the dark, dusty lab with only himself and a flashlight?
Well, doesn't matter now. He had stepped out into the hall. The hall was a straight shot to a corner, this current part of the hall not having its own doors. The horrid smell was overwhelming the closer he got to the turn. Whatever died was around the corner.
Sure, he'd seen plenty of corpses before because of the whole murderous Red Army thing, but this was different. He was isolated from the world and somewhere potentially dangerous; alone.
Turning the corner, it took a second for the flashlight to shine on whatever was causing the smell. Sure enough, a human corpse, long dead, was slumped against the wall. They looked slightly familiar..
Tom cautiously approached it. It wore a suit, but it's head was tilted down towards the ground, so he couldn't really tell who it used be if he even knew them in the first place. He decided to lift the head, even though every muscle in his body was saying not to touch it and move on or leave.
His hand went towards the top of its head and then he pulled the head back by the hair. Pretty much as soon as he did this, he dropped the head back to where it had been before while stumbling back, nearly falling.
He did know this person. It was Bing's lab assistant, Larry, he was pretty sure. The actual face was completely busted, looking like something must have exploded and started rotting from there on. The only recognizable feature was the destroyed eye patch.
His hair was faded from its usual blond, his skin cold and pale, and blood ruined the suit jacket of the usually very clean and tidy person he used to be.
Wait..
If Larry was here, then where was Bing? Was he dead, too? How was he supposed to find what he needed from him then?
Trying to shake away the shock of finding Larry in this condition, Tom forces himself to look to the door he had died beside. He opened it, and if he considered the halls dusty, this room genuinely had an entire layer of the stuff covering everything. It was disgusting.
He shined his flashlight around the room and decided it was some kind of tech lab kinda thing. Strange machinery and a couple computers around. Surely, none worked by now though, so he didn't even try messing with them.
Backing out of the room, he tried to ignore the dreadful presence of Larry as he went to the next closest room. It was some kind of closet; a couple brooms inside along with.. blankets? He snatched one of the brooms; he was getting paranoid the longer he was down here that something would pop out to attack him.
Obviously a broom wasn't his first choice of weapon, but it's either that or a flashlight..
Tom looked into the other few rooms in the hall; finding nothing of importance, and went to the end of the hall where he faced a set of double doors. He knew a huge room was behind the doors, and he was pretty sure it was where the clones of he, his friends, and Tord were made while the room below was where some were fused together. Like Torm, for example.
