Tom couldn't believe this. It had been about a month since Tord had suddenly disappeared in thin air, and the only leads the authorities had was everyone at Matt's house possibly having something to do with it.
So now they were all looked at as potential murderers, since some idiot decided Tord was probably dead and now everyone believed that it seemed.
Tom was far more worried about this than anyone else for two solid reasons. One, obviously he'd be worried since Tord is, or potentially was, his boyfriend, and he had known him practically his whole life. And then the fact that he saw himself, or someone that looked a lot like him with Tord before he up and disappeared.
Right now, he, Edd, and Matt were being questioned, as others questioned previously had mentioned how the four were always around each other.
"What was the goal of this "party" I've been told he disappeared at?" The woman asked calmly to them.
"I-It was just a birthday party!" Matt stutters nervously, "I j-just wanted to see m-my friends! I didn't know Todd would be missing!"
"..Todd?" She asks, slightly confused.
"Tord." Edd corrects, sighing.
"Right..." She says, eyeing Matt from his nervousness, "When was the last each of you saw him?" She asks instead, looking to Edd first.
"Oh! Uh, he silently left the room everyone was in and went into the kitchen. That's the last I saw him.." Edd says, sounding sad as he remembered that.
"Me too! We were all in the same room together when he disappeared afterwards!" Matt adds.
Tom was looking at his feet when Edd looked over at him, remembering something, "Wait, Matt. Actually, Tom wasn't.." He trails off, trying to remember what Tom had said to him after that point.
"Er- w-what!?" Tom says, jumping slightly while looking suspiciously nervous. I mean, from what he knew, he technically did this.
"You left a little bit after Tord since he was taking forever, and after another million years you came back saying he had to leave?" Edd recalls, not quite connecting anything.
"So he disappeared after he left!" Matt concludes, while the woman sighs, shaking her head at him slightly.
"How was Thomas acting after he said that to you?" She asks Edd, ignoring Matt and Tom for now.
"He was acting really nervous, and-" Edd starts, but stops as his eyes widen slightly, coming to his own conclusion. "T-Tom..? Tord never went home; you told me yourself that you visited his parents and they hadn't seen him since he left for Matt's house." Edd says carefully, looking at Tom who was now looking at him.
"I didn't- Why do you think I would kill him, Edd! This went from a kidnapping to assuming he's dead; you know I wouldn't kill anyone, especially one of my own friends!" Tom snaps, his fingers digging into the chair he was sitting on.
"You were the last one who saw him, though.." Edd says, "You had to have something to do with it!" He suddenly shouts back.
The woman calmly listened to them as they started fighting about this, "Wow, Edd! We've all known each other since at least first grade! And now you think I've murdered my own boyfriend!?"
"Yes, I do, actually! You've been acting really odd lately, and really nervous this whole time as if you were guilty of something!"
"That's because- You just don't understand! Why would I act like myself when he's gone missing out of nowhere!"
"You're not acting like that, Tom! You've been acting almost guilty for a while, like you had something to do with it!" Matt awkwardly has been examining his shoes the whole time, trying not to listen to his two friends fight.
"Thomas," The woman says to get their attention, "Explain why exactly you are or aren't acting as your friend says?"
"..." Tom stares at her angrily for a moment before standing up from the chair, "I'm not doing this right now. I don't want anything to do with this anymore!" He shouts at the investigator, going out the door and down the hall.
The woman presses a button at the desk and says, "Would someone catch that kid?" her words boomed around the building, showing it was connected to some kind of speaker.
Moments later, a couple people came in restraining Tom who was trying to fight his way away from them, "Let me go!" He was saying, "I had nothing to do with this!!"
"Acting as you are doesn't help your claims." The woman says as the two drop Tom and block the door so he can't bolt off again, "You sound like you're hiding something."
"I'm- I'm not! I have nothing to do with this!" Tom says.
"Tom, if you didn't do it, then why are you acting so suspicious about it!" Edd says, clearly angry with him now. He believed his friend was a murderer now, after all.
"I-" Tom stopped to think for a quick second; he'd probably sound crazy whether he told them what he saw or not, "I saw someone who looked just like me walking with him, so I followed them and they were both gone." Tom says, sighing in defeat, "That's why I took forever to come back into the room with you, Edd!"
"Do you have a twin we weren't aware about? Why would someone look exactly like you when you're.., you know. I've never heard of another person with pitch black eyes." She points out.
"I don't know!" Tom says,"That's just what I saw, okay!?"
The woman was silent as she scribbled on her clip board, "If you're so opposed to being here, you may leave; but you will have to come back here again, I'm quite sure." She says to him.
So of course, Tom left the building, and didn't look back at it. Edd and the rest of the world would now think he's crazy, and killed Tord, and neither was true.
