Redemption
"All that has happened in the past 10 days has put me down for some thinking. I mean.. it was a bizarre experience. From starting my training to become a pilot to coming to Madras as a guard and then getting looted by those Ragmen and seeing you for the first time, getting treatment at the hospital to spending 3 days in jail. And that fight we had in the beach.. it's really strange I can feel there is something odd to it." Sitaram explained everything to Anamika. "I mean why did the Ragmen loot us? Okay.. it can be for the money. But again why did they come all the way to Madras? And why attack Subhash Chandra Bose?" Sitaram conveyed his doubts. "Bose is a national leader Sitaram. Many people are waiting to attack him, to be more precise, to kill him..as they think he is a threat, especially the British." Said Anamika. "And yeah coming to that, why was Bose, the national leader, present at the Beach and what was he doing with that box? Also, how did he get the antidote? If you give it a little thought, it will sound as if all the events are related. But there is no proper evidence to prove it." Sitaram spoke out in anger. Rahman and James came in, interrupting Sitaram. "We need to go, I will tell you everything on the way" said Rahman. Without thinking about it, Sitaram and Anamika got up and left along with them.
Stinson was waiting for them at the Georgetown office along with the Governor-General. "Ahhh, James. You know that Viceroy Stanley doesn't like to wait. Why are you taking so much time to bring them here..!" Stinson was thinking. After waiting for few minutes, he decided to go in and tell the Governor-General that Sitaram and Rahman are not coming. But to his surprise, James arrived with them and Stinson immediately pushed them inside the Governor-General's room. "So you have come. Please have a seat. I have something to tell." said the Governor-General looking at them. "We want to honour you for helping us in catching the Bandits. Your help has come at the right time. Please take these medals. Here you also take one, Stinson" Governor-General Stanley gave them the medals. "We have our eyes on the Bandits and would definitely extract the information regarding the money they stole. In the meantime, you will be getting back your jobs and also I heard from Stinson that you are interested in joining the Royal Air Force. So I am clearing you both for that." With that news Rahman rose from his chair in joy and hugged Sitaram. Sitaram who was alright till then, suddenly started shouting in pain. "What happened?" Stinson and James came towards him. Anamika noticed the blood on his legs and she immediately made him lye down to check it. "I think his injury got open again. He had some rough days over the past week. He needs some stitching work and some rest. " Said Anamika. "Well then you can join training after a month of time. Both of you can leave now to your respective places. Thank you once again." the Governor-General shook hands with everyone and left the place. "I hope your dreams get fulfilled and maybe we will meet again in the future." Stinson spoke emotionally and then ordered James to accompany them until they leave Madras.
Anamika and Rahman took Sitaram to the hospital and patched up his wounds. They both were thankful that everything got to an end. But they didn't get the same vibe from Sitaram. "What is bothering you Bhai? What are you thinking about?" asked Rahman. "It's nothing. I am just not able to stop thinking about the last 10 days. Why did Rajan appoint the Bandits to steal money? And if they did steal the money, why didn't the Bandits come back to Madras instead of staying somewhere or hiding somewhere? Don't they have the money with them. Also what was Subhash Chandra Bose doing with that box? How did he have the antidote for that plague disease that was spreading here in Madras? I can go on Rahman. There are many questions and thoughts in my mind that needs answers." Sitaram put out his frustrating thoughts. "Well it's over now Sitaram. The Bandits are in British custody. Rajan has absconded and Stinson is starting a search party for him. Bose has left the country, as given in today's newspaper. And we are here, all fine and not dead in that madness. So I would advise you to stop thinking about the past and heal up, because we have a job to do, to finally fulfill the dream of serving the country." Rahman responded. Silence followed by, until James came in with some Tea and Royal biscuits.
