"Happy Thanksgiving!" I shouted walking into my mamas kitchen.
I was excited to com back home and spend time with my family. My mouth was watering as soon as I stepped in here, smelled the food and everything. It kind of sucks how I only see them on holidays but I make sure to make memories whenever I'm home.
I tried to talk Aaliyah into finally meeting my family but she was too nervous and didn't want to do it this early. She has nothing to worry about though, my mom already adores her. She said she wouldn't mind if we spent christmas together though, so I'll be patient and wait. I hope she enjoys her thanksgiving because it seems to be a lot on her plate with her family.
"My baby boy!" My mama said coming up to hug me "It's good to see you" She cooed while I rubbed her back with my free hand.
"Yeah it's good to be home" I said then let her go so she could finish preparing the table.
"If my grandson don't come out of that kitchen and come speak to the rest of his family, I'm gone have a fit" That familiar voice came from my grandmother, Millie.
Walking towards the dining room I leaned down and gave her a hug and kiss on the cheek "Hey grandma, how you been?" I asked with a smile.
"Better than ever" she said rubbing my arm.
Giving my grandad a warm hug I said "I know you ready to eat" I joked.
He laughed a little "Ain't I always, your mama wanna take all day though" My mom waved him off and walked back to the kitchen and I followed her snickering.
"Your big headed self can't speak" I felt somebody mushed the back of my head. Turning around I saw my little sister Jazmine standing there with a goofy grin on her face "And what did you bring?" She asked.
I laughed a little "Wassup lil sis, you getting so big" I said pulling her in for a hug and rocked us side to side "I brought some potatoes and dinner rolls, all mama gotta do is pop em in the oven" I smirked.
She playfully rolled her eyes "Well I'm glad your home"
"Where's Kordell at?"
"Somewhere with your father, He'll be here though" my mom assured me.
"Is dad staying for dinner?"
She didn't say anything, just shrugged a shoulder. I know she didn't care if he planned on staying or not, they aren't together anymore. My mother has a new man in her life and if he makes her happy then I'm happy. This wasn't our first thanksgiving without him but that vibe felt a bit different this year.
