Dangerous Waters

Chapter 1

It was a cool summer night and everyone was home enjoying their air conditioning while a young woman with long raven black hair walked the streets. Her body was slender and her skin looked kinda pale as if she hadn't been out in sunlight for a few months. As she walked down the street, she stopped in mid stride as she looked at a small group of men standing a few feet away. They looked like they were part of some gang or part of one of the mob families that lived in the area. One looked up at her and smiled, sending shivers down her spin.

"Prikhodite syuda malen'kiy yagnenok," a strong and thick accented voice called to her as she stood frozen in his eyes. The young man who had called to her walked in between the group of men; he had on a nice tailored suit that was the color of black cherries. His eyes were brown almost black as he walked towards her. "It's nice to see you again Alyxx, tell me, how is my brother treating you." He smiled and brushed the smallest strand of hair away from her face revealing a set of haunting viper green eyes that stared at him with fear and hate.

"Hello Nikoli, and my father is treating me the way a father should, where you have been banned from anything to do with us. Why are you here?" The young girl snapped at him moving away from his hand as she glared at him knowing that he would be armed. "Her hate started to show in her face as she knew that she could be in trouble. Her body stood still, so her fear didn't overcome her as she stood face to face with the man that killed her mother. He laughed as he looked at her with a demented smile on his face planing to do evil.

"Oh, come now little lamb, there is no need to be this way with your uncle, now let's drop the bullshit and let's talk business." Nikoli says grabbing her upper arm and dragging her to his small group of men. Alyxx put up a fight, digging her heels into the concrete sidewalk as she grunts and struggles against him. In the back of her mind she wishes she had her gun. They get closer and closer, slowly, when out of the darkness a single gunshot rings out passing Nikoli's head. Nikoli stops in his tracks and looks up at the owner of the gun and was shocked to see who was behind the barrel.

"Teper' Nikoli, eto ne sposob lechit' ledi." a young woman's voice calls out as Alyxx lets out a sigh of relief. Nikoli let his grip loosen for a slight second, that's when Alyxx broke free from his grip and ran to her new savor. "Ehi ragazza." the young woman said to Alyxx with a smile and a strong grip around her waist. "Now why don't you get out of here before Sergio finds you in his area and see you with his daughter." Without protest Nikoli walks back to his small group and heads off down the street not looking back.

"Boy, am I glad to see yo......" Alyxx stops mid sentence as a loud thud echos in her ears as the young lady who had come to her aid had just smacked her in the back of the head. "Ehi per cosa diavolo?" Alyxx said holding her head that was now pounding as she looked at the woman standing in front of her. The woman had long whiskey colored hair and bright green eyes; it was her secret best friend, Alyson Harvie. Alyson grabbed Alyxx and dragged her down an alley where they could talk.

"Ti dispiacerebbe dirmi cosa stai facendo qui senza una guardia o persino una pistola!" The fired up brunette yelled looking at Alyxx as she holstered her Glock 19 on the inside of her waist holster. "Per peggiorare le cose Nikoli ti ha messo le mani addosso, cosa sarebbe successo se non ti avessi trovato?" She kept yelling at Alyxx, who knew that she was already in enough trouble because she ditched her guard that has been told not to let her out of his sights. Alyson sighed as she rubbed her temples in pain.

"Look, just promise me that you won't leave your house without your gun next time please," Alyson pleaded with Alyxx as she stood there in front of her looking at her feet. Alyson sighed once more before hugging her friend. "I can't lose you, you are my only friend, yes our families may hate each other but that hasn't stopped us before has it." Alyxx stayed silent and nodded as she hugged her friend tightly not wanting to let go of her, but knew their time together was short. Alyxx sulked as they broke away from their hug as they smiled and laughed.

"You know I wanted to yell at Nikoli when he walked away but I held my tongue on it." Alyxx said and smiled as she looked at Alyson with eager eyes and nodded her head yes without a minute to spare. "Po krayney mere, moy otets znayet, kak pozabotit'sya o zhenshchinakh, gde vse, chto vy znayete, - kak udarit' ikh!" The two of them burst into laughter as they held onto their sides as the alley way was filled with their howls of laughter. Slowly their laughs became quiet as they stood in the alley way of two buildings. "I can't thank you enough for saving me back there. If my father finds out that I ditched Apollo again, I swear I'm going to have a tracking device placed on me."

"I understand well; where did you leave the guy this time, in the square or in the park?" Alyson asked as she looked back to make sure no one was watching us. "I'm going to go with the park by the fountain where you first saw Damian Moretti?" Alyxx bit her lower lip as her face started to turn a bright red as she looked at her friend. "I knew it!" Alyson yelled as she slapped her hands as if she had just won a prize. "Well, it seems that our time together has ended girl. Five week from now same time, same place?"

"You know it!" Alyxx responded as she hugged her friend for the last time and quickly sprinted off to the park. Once Alyxx had reached the park, she started laughing as she saw Apollo running around looking for her. "Apollo! Where have you been? I have been looking for you!" Alyxx said as she pretended she had been walking around in the streets. Apollo looked up from his frantic running around as he saw her standing next to him. Apollo looked at her and tried to find his words to try and explain but then something behind me caught his eye and his whole demeanor changed.

"Get behind me and don't say a word." Apollo said grabbing his gun and pushing Alyxx behind him and a small heat had started spreading in her chest as she looked back. There he was, Damian Moretti, just walking in the park by himself with his notebook. Apollo walked over to him as Alyxx followed behind him keeping her heart in check. If Apollo knew why he was there, and was to meet her, she would be dead. "This is Petrov territory, if I were you and if you want to go back to the house you belong to, I would leave."

Damian looked at Apollo and saw Alyxx behind him and his heart fluttered at the sight of her, her beauty capturing his heart in an instant, at the first sight. Damian cleared his throat and smiled as he looked at Apollo, "I didn't mean to cross the line, as I had just returned to the city, my apologies. I'll be leaving now." He bowed to Apollo and walked away winking at Alyxx as he held his book close to his body, he walked slowly away hoping to get another glimpse at the woman who just stole his heart. Apollo put his glock away and looked at Alyxx as she looked back at him with all seriousness. Apollo grabbed her arm and turned her towards the direction of the house, as they started walking back home.

Once Damien walked into the Moretti household, he greeted his father Luan, his brother Lukas and his mother Lillian. "Hello family, I have had a wonderful day. How are you on this side of the world." He asked as he stood at the doorway with a smirk, watching his brother and father argue with one another. At first no one answered him, until he hears the argument. "Ahh I see, so the normal around here." he said to himself as he walked away.

The two men kept yelling Italian at one another when he sees a familiar face, that of his 'cousin', Alyson Harvie. He smiles and rushes over to her and hugs her, "Hey little foot." he smiles as Alyson hugs him back happy to see him, to know he was back home for good. After they hug for a good few minutes he looks at her. "Can we go somewhere private, I need to talk to you about something?" He asked as Alyson nodded and grabbed him by his hand and lead him to the room she uses when she stays with his family.

Once they got to her room she shut the door so that they were alone. "So what did you want to talk about?" Alyson asked as she sat on her bed looking at him. She could tell that he was in love by the look in his eyes. But she also wanted to get the truth out about her being friends with a Petrov. But wasn't sure if she could trust him enough to hold her secret.

"I think I found true love in the park today and I don't care what my father says, I want to try and make peace with the Petrov's!" He exclaimed as his heart was overflowing with love and trust. Alyson's eyes grew wide at the name he had said, thinking of Alyxx. "She was as beautiful as an angel, her hair was black like a raven's feathers and her eyes where like a rare viper green, I could stare at them for eternity." He let out a sigh of relief that he was able to tell someone his secret that he had fallen in love with the one family that his family hated with a fiery passion. He looked back at Alyson seeing she was itching to say something to him.......
