So I chose my serinity,
instead of sensitivity.
And I stayed quiet,
instead of screaming.
And I laughed out loud,
instead of bursting out of crying.
I pushed everyone away,
instead of starting over.
I chose numbness over feelings.
And silence instead of noise.
But I learned how to love myself,
instead of loving someone else.
I followed short goodbyes,
instead of forever.
