-Webby's POV-
The small plane was slipper than she had thought, as she slowly started to slide off the side. Webby knew that it might have been a mistake, jumping out of the plane, but Dewey needed to be reunited with his mom. She tried pulling herself up, but lost her grip, causing her to slide faster down the side. She screamed, staring down at the ground miles away, then she started to think of catchy last words. This was it.
Until Dewey grabbed her hand. Webby looked up with overwhelming gratitude, finding the strength and support to heave herself into the passenger seat with Dewey.
"Your insane!" Vixen screamed from the cockpit, "I love it!"
"Don't ever do that!" Dewey said glaring at her, but Webby knew she had won. She hugged him, muttering her thanks before pinning him down. "What are you doing?!"
"You have to come with us now or you'll die!!!" She screamed in his face. Webby hoped he would understand. He tried to fight his way out, clawing at her arms, shoving and kicking, but Webby was stronger and easily kept hold of him.
Vixen steered the plane into the back of the Sunchaser. Everything seemed to be working until a pirate plane crashed into them.
-Dewey's POV-
The pirates slashed at the Spitfire, almost hitting Vixen before they turned around to regroup. They started to dive for another attack. "Jump into the plane!" Della shouted. Webby nodded, grabbing ahold of both Dewey's arms forcing him to stand.
Dewey looked down at Vixen, trying to make eye contact but she wouldn't turn around. He could face his mom if she was there. It gave him the strength and courage to jump. He would protect her, even if she didn't need protection, from Scrooge and the others. They would find a way to stay together, after they got through this mess. Plus, she had promised to let him pilot the Spitfire.
So, he jumped with Webby into the plane with the rest of his family. Dewey looked behind him...
-Huey's POV-
Huey and Louie grabbed fiercely to the fighting Dewey who was trying to escape. "Dewey! You need to calm down! Would Vixen want you to chase after her, putting herself in danger?" Huey reasoned and Webby nodded in agreement.
"You really think she would want me to just let her be captured?!" Dewey screamed in his face, shoving harder.
Huey thought about it. After Dewey and Webby had made the jump, Dewey had turned to reach for Vixen. She had almost grabbed hold before the pirates had come back for another charge. They had taken the opportunity to grab her instead, pulling her into their plane, flying back to the cargo ship. Dewey had freaked out, trying to chase after her but there wasn't anyway to get there. First thing he said was to turn around and fight the pirates to get Vixen back. Scrooge couldn't look at him, turning and telling Launchpad to get out of there as quickly as the Sunchaser could.
At first, Louie and Webby had tried pulling him farther into the plane, which worked while Dewey was still in shock.
Huey had watched the whole thing happen. The captain had picked Vixen up by the neck, sneering in her face. They exchanged a few words, the tears streamed down their fox's face. The captain thrust her to the floor, pointing, then two other pirates dragged her into the ship. The huge plane closed.
She was gone. The Sunchaser's door shut. That was it.
Dewey screamed, the shock was over. He broke free from Louie and Webby, sprinting as fast he could, banging on the closed door. "Look what you've done!" He screamed again. He dropped to the ground, still banging on the door.
Della reached for him, but he shoved it away. She shook her head, Huey guessed she had decided to give him space, and headed to the cockpit where the other adults were. "We're going to be going through some rough skies for a little while. Everyone buckle up! I found a new Darkwing Duck disk, enjoy!" Launchpads voice came over the loud speakers.
Huey, Louie, and Webby ran over to Dewey, trying to bring him to the seats. He refused to stand, but gave up after a few seconds. Huey felt terrible... his little brother had lost someone extremely important to him. Dewey only gave them a blank stare, allowing them to pull him.
-Dewey's POV-
Vixen was gone.
-Webby's POV-
After a few minutes since Vixen had been captured, Dewey stared to show that he realized what had happened. His face turned pale, his eyes became full of tears, and he had to grip the seat. His brothers anxiously watched, but neither of them did anything. Webby wanted to pull him into a hug, but was scared that he would attack her again. So, they all sat in silence.
The letter! Vixens last words!
Webby jumped up, searching for where she had put it. Maybe it would cheer Dewey up, but first she would read it, just to make sure it wasn't mean.
Dear Scrooge....
I forgive you. I don't believe you killed my mom anymore. I believe it was a lie my father told me. I think he took it too far. You seem to be a great uncle to Louie, I respect that. I didn't have any good role models in my life until I met your group. Your adventurous, daring, even smarter than the smarties and tougher than the toughies. -Don't quote that.
I'm sorry I'm kidnapping Dewey. I realize I'm putting him in danger, looking like Louie McDuck, especially with the ransom Doofus Drake put on his retrieval. I know he's not as safe as he is in a big group protected by his family. I will protect him with my life. You can count on that. If I'm ever captured by the Iron Vulture, they will kill me, for something I did a while ago. If it comes to that, I will get him as far away from them as possible, trust me. I won't let him be captured by those disgusting rats.
I want you all to know how much I love Dewey. I promise I won't ever leave him. I already said I'll protect him with my life. Tell Della I will someday return him safe and sound.
Tell Huey I didn't mean to scare him.
-the fearsome pilot of the Spitfire and traitor to the Iron Vulture, Vixen Karnage
-Dewey's POV-
Webby handed him the letter. He read over it carefully, ten times at least. This is when Dewey realized that she was gone. For forever.
