(@ READERS; SURPRISE!)
What's it like when your mother is one of the most well known and talented pilots, not to even mention the greatest adventurer, in the entire world? What's it like when she says she wants to travel everywhere, see the stars and explore the galaxy? Well, if you're not big on moving and never seeing her, then this isn't for you. But for me? This is a dream come true. I love being unpredictable and on the move, hopping from place to place and leaving my mark. I've lived in seven different countries, been in an undercover mission as a member of a gang, and visited space once.
The only thing that is terrible about this awesome life is that I have to go to dreaded school. While my mom, Della Duck, probably rings a bell, is out there on some crazy adventure, I'm stuck in gym class, or chemistry, or some sort of history. Can't she see that I learn more when I'm out there battling a mummy, escaping pirates, or having tea - which I find actually appealing - with a monkey?
It was about a week ago when Della decided to move to Duckburg, a small coastal city that houses the two richest ducks in the world. Rich with what? Coins? I find that money itself means nothing, it's experience and curiosity that actually makes you rich. What's money going to do when an apocalypse comes, or rather, the end of the world draws near? It's the ones that push themselves out into the wild and survive that will find themselves rich in the end. Pardon my philosophical pondering, as you can see, I am very passionate about this.
Anyways, I'm in Duckburg now and living a completely boring and unexciting life. Having been here a week, nearly every duck, cat, dog, or bird has tried becoming my friend, seeing me as 'cool' to their standards. I've had a great fortune, if one was to lightly pour sarcasm into that, of meeting Huey Duck (must be a common last name), Louie McDuck, and Webby Vanderquack. It was about the second day of my arrival in which I met them and still, yet a week later I still don't know what to think. Seeing as Webby had practically thrown herself (when I say that, she clearly purposefully fell down the stairs into my heroic arms) at me at our first meeting, I could see that this school was just like all the others. Having done this, I was 'claimed' as theirs, even though there was no written agreement or consulting with the prize - myself.
Even apart of this 'group' who all got along and being new, I knew I was disliked. Huey seemed to have it out for me, staring suspiciously every time we passed in the hallway or glaring into the back of my head when he thought I wasn't looking. What was this kid's deal anyway? A stingy know-it-all with an attitude, I'll have to add that to my list of personalities I find odd.
And then there was Louie, the lazy and antisocial nephew of the richest duck alive, Scrooge McDuck. I have known since forever that Della and Scrooge go on some adventures together - business partners one could say. Those were the ones she never told me about, meaning they must have been highly dangerous.. or extremely boring. I doubt Scrooge took this lump on any of his expeditions.
The bell rings and I'm awoken from my thoughts, grabbing my notebook and heading out the door. I didn't have to pay attention in class, I had learned it last year in another school. Everything is repeated across the globe, most of the concepts are the same and it's easy to understand and convert between places. I exit the school and head to my bus when Webby runs into me.
"Hey, Dewey! I'm so glad I ran into you - haha get it - before you got on the bus! A bunch of us, like Louie, Huey, Lena-" as I'm listening to Webby, I watch my bus pull away and leave me behind. I internalize my groan, wishing she would stop catching me like this and forcing me to take the long walk home. I turn my attention back to Webby, who is still rattling off names, "and Sky will all be there! Do you want to come? Please?"
"Sure," I say with a flashy smile, hoping what I had agreed too wouldn't be too boring. She grins and grabs my forearm, sprinting across the lawn and dragging me along.
