Lydia agreed that he seemed to not be annoyed by our various quirks and it would be nice to get back at him for calling her Shorty.
And Dimitri had just sighed and said at least there'd be another dude in the group.
But despite my friends being cool with it, I still wasn't quite sure about how I felt around Luke. Every so often he would say something like Erik used to or make a face of some sort and I'd want to go into complete hysterics. It seemed to happen more often than not and after he would leave I'd feel very emotionally wasted.
So, there we were a few days later on group text once again.
Me: OHMIGOSH GUYS FOXY ACADEMY RIGHT!?!?!?!
Lydia: HOLY CRAP I KNOW RIGHT!?
Dimitri: SHUT UP I HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET!
Bella: Tbh I never saw Pey hitting on Logan until she finally like went on it like full force...
Dimitri: Bell, sweetie, I love you and all but when it comes to spoilers I WANT TO KILL YOU!!!
Luke: lol Is this really about Foxy Academy again?
Lydia: That's what life is about FartFace!
Me: ooooooh nicknames already? Does somebunny have a cwushywush?
Lydia: *stabs Gwen*
Me: lol
Just then, my phone buzzed again, this time with a separate text from Bella.
Bella: I have a master plan.
Me: Should I be afraid?
Bella: Of course not!
Me: Go ahead.
Bella: We invite Luke to the Memorial Day picnic at the Base.
I stared for a few moments at the text before responding, not knowing what to say.
Me: Whyyyyyyyy?
Bella: Because if you haven't picked it up yet, you're a ship now. And I will not watch it die before my very eyes because you two didn't bond over any shared extracirricular experiences.
Me: Bella. No.
Bella: Forget you. I'm going to do it and you're going to like it.
Me: Bell!!
I switched back on to group text where I read the dreaded words.
Bella: Hey Luke, the base is having a picnic in a few days for Memorial day and we were wondering if you wanted to come?
I started bashing my head into my desk. "NO NO NOOOOO!"
"GWEN!" My mother yelled from downstairs. "Is everything alright?"
My head jumped up and I rubbed my sore forehead. "Yeah Mom, totally fine." I responded.
"What was that banging and screaming about?"
"Uh....nothing Mom I'm good." I obviously can't lie to save my life.
I looked down at the text messages.
Luke: I don't even live on the base tho. :-\ wouldn't that be a little awkward.
Lyd: Nah you'd be fine. You should come.
Dimitri: it'll be fun.
Luke: Oh.....okay.......what time?
Lyd: From noon to midnight-ish. We can drive you home.
Luke: I'll ask.
Luke: She said sure. I'll go.
Bella: YAY! :D
Just then, Bella texted me separately again.
Bella: There, not so bad now was it?
Me: I feel like dying
Bella: Come on, this'll be fun I swear!
Me: if you say so.
Bella: Trust me. I say so. ;)
