Chapter Nine:

Dallas POV:

We finally made it back to the house after a half hour of Tatum's driving.

"I'm never letting you drive again! You went at least fifteen above the limit and we got a toddler in the backseat!" I complained as I got out shutting the passenger door behind me. Opening the back door, I realised Paisley was asleep leaning against Hayden's car seat where Hayden slept. A chuckle escaped my lips as I unbuckled Paisley and shook her shoulders.

"Paisley, sweetheart, we are home, wake up." I continued to shake her until her beautiful eyes fluttered open and she got out of the car half in a daze.

After all of us got inside me cradling Hayden to my chest, I turned to Tatum with a smile. "Well, it was nice of you to come over and spend the day with us." I said in a tone that encouraged him to leave.

"I understand when I'm not wanted anymore. Goodnight, Paisley and Hayden." Tatum smiled and pulled Paisley into a hug kissing her cheek and then kissed Hayden's head. With one last goodbye, he exited my home and turned to Paisley.

"Let's get you two to bed." I placed my free hand on her lower back and guided her up the steps to her room. God, I wished she stayed in my room and we could share a bed. I didn't even care if we did the dirty deed just if she slept beside me and I got to wake up to her beautiful face in the morning. Wait, where did that come from? This is Paisley we are taking about, Dallas, I scolded myself.

While the mini conflict was occurring in my head, I changed Hayden who was still sleeping. He was a tired little boy. However, as soon as I started buttoning up his pyjamas his eyes opened staring up at me. A grin which showcased his only three teeth appeared and I smiled back at him. "Goodnight, buddy."

"Night-night, Da-da!" He exclaimed not the least bit tired anymore. I chuckled kissing his forehead before transferring him into the makeshift crib. I didn't understand why it didn't bother me that this little bundle of joy was become so close to me, but I didn't mind it, actually I loved the feeling of it and wouldn't give it up if I had the choice.

Paisley decided to walk out of the shower now in met shorts and tank top and I smiled at her. "I put Hayden to bed for you, but he doesn't seem real tired at the moment." I informed her as Hayden reached his arms up to his mommy which she complied with picking him up.

"I didn't think he would be when he woke up. Thank you Dallas for everything, Hayden and I had a great time today." Paisley thanked me and I smiled down at her. One thing that shocked me and made me blush for the first time in my life was when she leaned up and kissed my cheek.

"You are such an amazing friend to have, Dallas, you're so great!" Ouch. I was friend-zoned, the guy who's never been rejected in his life was friend-zoned. Talk about a shot to the ego.

"Uh, thanks, Paisley. You and Hayden are pretty special." I gave her a smile and placed my hands on her side and Hayden's back and as I bent down and kissed her cheek even though it was more like the corner of her lips. Then I moved and kissed Hayden's forehead.

Hayden latched on to my neck as I tried to pull away and I wrapped my arms around the one year old with a smile.

"Butterfly kisses, Da-da!" Hayden grinned and I smiled back. Butterfly kisses was something I used to do with my mom when I was a little brat. I leaned forward grinning as I rubbed my nose against him tiny one earning a giggles from Hayden and Paisley. A flash made me pull back as I turned to Paisley who was blushing and had a sheepish grin on her face as she held her phone.

"Sorry, I couldn't resist, but take a picture, I needed a new lock screen," she apologised and I smiled at her. I realised I've been smiling a lot more now than I ever have in my entire life. It was just these two sweethearts that waltz into my life and away with my heart.

"I'm your lock screen now, huh?" I asked, I guess I was back to my cocky self as a smirk laced my lips and I laid my cheek against the top of Hayden's head as his was laid against my chest.

"If you don't mind that is, it was just so cute, the two men in my life." Paisley explained and shut her mouth as the last couple words jumbled out. I grinned at her. I was the man in her life?

"I'm one of the men in your life? I didn't know you were that close to me." I asked and through my other arm around her shoulders and pulled her into my side.

"W-well, I do live with you, I don't have that much friends, actually I don't have any friends except for Maggie and you. So yes, you and Hayden are the two most important men in my life at the moment." I didn't like when she added 'at the moment' in. I wanted to me one of the most important men in her life forever which was strange since I wasn't one for commitment. I was more of a use 'em and lose 'em sort of guy if you know I mean.

"Alright, Paisley. I'm going to go to bed, I'll see you in the morning." I finally said and handed over a fussy Hayden.

"No. I sleep with Da-da!" Hayden complained and I looked reluctantly to Paisley.

"You don't want to sleep with Mommy?" Paisley asked and I could detect the hurt in her tone.

"No, I sleep with Da-da." Paisley handed Hayden over to me and I smiled at her. He wrapped his arms around my neck and buried his face into my neck.

"How about if mommy sleeps with us?" I asked Hayden.

"Fine." He agreed and I took Paisley's hand and led her to my room.

"Are you sure that's okay, Dallas? I don't want to intrude." Paisley tried as she grabbed my arm with her other hand to stop me in the hallway.

"Paisley, I wouldn't have suggested it if I wasn't sure, besides all we will be doing is sleeping. " I assured her and pulled her into my room flipping the lights on.

"Get you and Hayden comfortable, I have take a shower and brush my teeth." I handed Hayden over to her and went into my bathroom to get a shower.

After fifteen minutes or so, I walked out into the lit room in just my boxers and found Paisley asleep with Hayden in my bed. It was a wonderful sight that will forever be imprinted into my head. Turning the lights off to the room I made my way back to the bed as best as I could, but stubbed my toe by accident. I groan holding my toe for a few seconds to get my composure before climbing into my side of the bed.

Hayden woke when I moved the bed as well as Paisley.

"Da-da?" Hayden asks as I scooped him up placing him on my bare chest.

"Yes, buddy, go back to sleep. Daddy's here." I whispered to him and I felt Paisley move closer to me.

"What are you going to tell him when he figures out you aren't his real dad?" She asks and to be honest I never thought about that.

"I'm not sure. But it doesn't make someone a dad just because they have a child, it makes a dad to be there for that child whenever they might need you, to protect them even if they aren't your own flesh as blood, that's what my dad always told me because I have a sister his adopted." I told her before adding,"now go to sleep, I have work in the morning and I expect breakfast to be made for me." I closed t eyes letting the soft snores f Hayden drift me off to sleep.
