Paisley's Point of View:
Once we arrived to Dallas' office to hang-out for the rest of the day I felt awkward being inside the confines of the building I used to work in. I smiled at the receptionist, Brittany, as we passed her.
"Are you sure it's not a bother for Hayden and I to be here?" I question once again looking apprehensively up at Dallas with a nervous smile.
"Yes, stop worrying." Dallas re-assures me and the three of us gather into the elevator the usual music filling the small area.
"Mommy, where is my truck?" Hayden asks looking at me from his stroller. His eyes wide open.
"It's in the bag, we can open it when we get home, sweetheart." I inform Hayden with a smile as I softly run my fingers through his baby hair. It was finally growing in.
"No! Now!" Hayden exclaims becoming frustrated.
"Hayden, let's use our inside voices, and no we will wait until we are at home."
"Daddy!" Hayden tries looking up at Dallas. Smart little boy seeing if Dallas will give into him. I turn to Dallas with a glare. He better not give in or he will be getting it, I was trying to parent.
Dallas had a look of dread on his face as I noticed the war going on inside him on giving into to Hayden or choosing to back me up.
"Buddy, let's wait until we are home, maybe I have some crayons and markers in my office you can play with. Maybe you can draw me another beautiful picture Hayden." I stare at Dallas in astonishment as he had a triumphant smirk on his face by him clearly avoiding to take a side. Jerk.
Hayden clapped his hands in cheer as the elevator came to a stop at the top floor. I enter the spacious floor seeing my old office to the corner. It felt as if it was such a long time ago. I scoop Hayden out of the stroller as he begins to struggle and cuddle him against my chest.
"Come on." I hear Dallas mutter as we follow him to his office. He holds the door open for us as I walk in holding Hayden.
"My picture!" Hayden exclaims pointing to the paper with the picture he drew of a family taped to the wall next to his chair. I turn to Dallas who has a slight blush over his cheeks.
"That it is buddy." Dallas agrees as he takes a seat behind his desk. Hayden and I take a seat on the couch against the wall as I set the stroller in the corner along with the bag.
I set Hayden down beside me as I walk up to Dallas' desk and grab some white printer paper for Hayden to color on. "You don't mind, right?" I ask.
"Of course not, let me grab some crayons for you." I watch as Dallas leans down to a drawer and pulls out a fresh box of crayons. He hands them to me and I smile brightly at him and go back over to Hayden laying the paper and crayons out on the glass coffee table. Setting Hayden on my lap so he can reach the coffee table I watch over his shoulder as he starts drawing a shark or what appears to be a shark.
"Wow buddy that's awesome looking!" I comment with a smile.
"Thanks Mommy!" Hayden says kissing me on the cheek. God, I love him so much, I don't know where I'd be without him. At that moment I saw a flash go off from in front us. There stands Dallas with his iPhone raised in the air with a sheepish smile.
"I couldn't resist, you guys are adorable. Besides I needed a new home screen anyway." Dallas explains. A blush creeps up my neck to my cheeks at the 'adorable' part. Get it together Paisley.
"Send it to me, so I can add it to Hayden's album on my phone." I suggest looking back down at Hayden's almost finished work.
"I finished!" Hayden exclaims. I really have to teach Hayden to use his inside voice. "Daddy look!"
"I'm finished, buddy." I correct him softly with an encouraging smile.
"I'm finished." Hayden repeats with a triumphant smile. He was so cute.
Dallas walks over to us and peaks over my shoulder at Hayden's drawing. "Wow, bud, that is amazing!" Dallas compliments him and takes Hayden from my lap softly tossing him up in the air. I swear I felt my heart leap out of my chest at that move.
Hayden giggled and laughed as he securely wrapped his arms around Dallas both of them smiling.
My two boys.
