Chapter Six: (back to Paisley's POV)
I pulled out the ingredients needed to make pancakes. If he thought I was going to make him pancakes without him even being nice enough to ask, then he is surely mistaken. After making two pancakes for me and one pancake for Hayden when he woke up, I walk into the living room plopping down on the couch. "These are so delicious!" I mutter with my mouth full of pancakes grinning at Dallas.
"Where are mine?" He asked looking around like his plate of pancakes are going to magically appear, good luck with that.
"In the kitchen, but they are still in batter form, so you're going to have to cook them." I told him with a smirk taking a sip of my orange juice, as well. Continuing to eat, I watch as a he glares daggers at me.
"Please just make them for me, I am holding your child. Oh, and I forgot to tell you, my best-friend, Tatum, is coming over later today around 12, so I was wondering if we can all go to the park together and then dinner." Dallas pleaded rubbing his hand up and down Hayden's back.
"Yeah, sure he can come. And being the good friend and employee I am to you, I'll make you food."
I got up from the couch when I finished mine and went back into the kitchen. After I finished making his pancakes, I grabbed a napkin and for for him, but on the napkin I wrote in pen 'find the toenail'.
"Here you go." I said while handing him the pancakes with a mischievous smirk on my face.
"You're kidding, right?" Dallas asked in dread at the thought of a toenail in his food.
"I'll guess you will find out. Now, give me Hayden, so I can change him." Taking Hayden, I walked up the stairs to my room. Today, Hayden was going to be dressed in a blue onesie with a sailboat on the front and jeans. Since he was finally awake, I placed him in the playpen with his toys while I went to take a shower. "Mommy is going to take a shower, I'll be out in a few minutes."
Once my relaxing shower was complete, I stepped out into the frigid air and quickly changed into a light blue dress that ended a couple inches above my knee with a brown belt around my waist and flats since we were going to the park. Grabbing a sweater for myself incase I got cold and a jacket for Hayden I set them on the bed while I dried and curled the ends of my dark brown hair.
After I was finished, I picked Hayden up blowing raspberries on his stomach with a smile as it made him giggle. "Ready to go eat?" I asked him picking up the jackets from the bed and waltzing our way down the stairs where his pancakes were.
"Yes Mommy!" Hayden told me and I fed him the pancakes with a spoon not wanting to accidentally hurt him with a fork.
"That's a good boy to eat all your food, buddy! Maybe while we are at the park we can get some ice cream."
"Ice-cream!" I giggled wiping his mouth free from slobber and picked him up when I heard the doorbell go off. That must be Dallas' friend. I walked over to the door swinging it open with a smile. "Hi there, I'm Paisley."
"I'm Hayden." Hayden said with a two-toothed grin.
"Sorry, come in, I think Dallas is upstairs getting ready." I said as the nice piece of hunk in front of me. Why did nice-looking people always have nice-looking friends?
"I'm Tatum, I was a bit early anyways." He said as he walked in shutting the door behind him. I watched as he smiled down at Hayden, he reached down tickling his neck and saying,"Well, aren't you just cutie, how old are you?"
Hayden giggled and shoved one finger in his face while shouting,"I one!"
"Inside voice Hayden." I corrected Hayden with a small smile and took a seat with a bubbly Hayden in my lap.
"So, not to sound rude or anything, but why are you here at Dallas' house? He never mentioned having a girlfriend." Tatum asked confusion evident on his face.
"I'm his assistant at work and we are just friends. It's kind of complicated really, he didn't like where I was living before with Hayden and told me I had no choice, but to move in with him. Well, he didn't say it that way directly, but he wouldn't let the topic go saying how it will be best for Hayden's health and all that. And how can you deny a better area for your child and if you did then you'd look like a horrible parent, so I really didn't have a choice there." I said rambling on before blushing,"I'm sorry."
Tatum chuckled at that saying,"No it's fine, so you aren't his girlfriend?" He asked tickling Hayden's stomach when he had crawled over to him on the couch. I shook my head 'no' at his question. Hayden's giggles erupting in the air. I laughed at Hayden struggling to push Tatum's hand away with a smile and giggles still coming from him.
"Hey Tatum, I didn't know you got here already. I see you already met Paisley and Hayden." Dallas noticed as he came into the living room where they all were having a good time. He took a seat right beside me on the couch where his thigh was rubbing up against mine. What the heck was he doing? The thing that shocked me even more was that he put his arm behind my shoulders on the couch as well.
Tatum looked at us with a smirk and questioned,"Are you sure you guys aren't boyfriend and girlfriend?"
"Yes I am sure, we are just friends."I answered again confused at why he keeps bringing that question up. "So, let's get going to the park." Standing up from my spot, I bend down picking Hayden up from the couch. "Are you ready to go to the park, Buddy?"
"Yes Mommy!" Hayden shouts again, I pick up the diaper bag which is quickly taken out of my hands. I look back confused to see Tatum slinging the bag over his shoulder. "You already have Hayden, I'll carry the bag, it's no big deal." He assured with a smile. I smiled back at him before walking out of the door with Dallas very close behind me.
Off to the park we went.
