Chapter 3
In the morning, I wa wake to the sound of knocking at the door. I groan rubbing the sleep out of my eyes to find I'm not in my room. Where the heck was I? Hayden crawled on top of my stomach and laid his head down trying to go back to sleep. If he was still wanting to sleep then it was way to early. After figuring out we were at Dallas', I scurried out of the warm bed picking Hayden up on my way out.
I walked out of the room not even bothering to fix my appearance, no one was here I need to impress, well, except my boss. Finding our way to the kitchen, I found Mr. Carson drinking coffee at the breakfast bar.
"Can you make breakfast for me? I'm hungry." Dallas asks. Was he talking to me? Did I look like his maid?
"I guess I can. What would like?" I ask with an eye roll I was hoping he didn't see. Setting Hayden down on his feet, I grabbed a sippy-cup out of the diaper bag and went to the fridge filling it up with milk.
"Pancakes, bacon, and eggs would be lovely."
I nod my head and hand Hayden the sippy-cup. "Let's sit you down, so you can't get into trouble." Picking Hayden up I set him in the barstool next to Dallas'.
Next, I grab the ingredients needed to make his feast. Why couldn't he just have cereal? I sigh and start on the pancake mix before moving into the eggs and bacon.
After some time I had finally finished cooking breakfast. Taking out three plates, I put three pancakes, few pieces of bacon, and two scoops of eggs on Dallas' plate before serving him. I cut up a pancake and eggs and put it on Hayden's plate before setting it in front of him. Finishing off with my plate I put two pancakes and a piece of bacon.
"Which cabinet holds your cups?"
"The top right one next to the fridge."
I try reaching for the cabinet but come up short, crawling on to the counter I grab two cups before jumping down off the counter top.
"I could've helped you with that you know." I hear behind me from Dallas.
"What so you want to drink?" I ask ignoring what he said.
"Apple juice."
"Magic word." I say turning around to face him.
"Get me a cup of apple juice." Mr. Carson says in a no nonsense tone, a tone I was more than accustomed to.
"Those are the magic words. I'll give you a hint: it starts with p and ends in lease." I reply with a smirk etched on my face.
"Please!" Hayden says or more like screams to everyone.
"See it isn't hard! Hayden knows it." I smile but it drops when he gives me a stern look and I add on,"fine I'll get it for you." I pour Dallas a glass of apple juice and set it in front of him before looking through the fridge contents and settle on chocolate milk. Grabbing my plate and drink I take a seat next to Hayden, who instantly starts complaining about wanting to be in my lap.
"Can Mommy eat first before you climb into my lap? And you still have more to eat, Hayden." I interrupt his whining and point to his plate which still had pieces of pancake on it.
"I full!" He continues to whine his baby blue eye tearing up.
"Yeah, Mommy! He's full!" Dallas snickers to himself while I just shoot him daggers.
"Hayden, just remember you won't be getting any snacks until lunch." I inform Hayden and continue taking bites.
"I full!" Hayden screams and I pick him up from his barstool and set him on the ground. I watch as he pushes himself up on his feet and cautiously starts walking.
