Putting aside that the author is a popular author na nasa What's Hot ang story niya kaya siya babasahin, saan ba na-a-attract ang readers? Yung sa una pa lamang, without reading the whole content of your story ay pipindutin na nila and Start Reading?
Cover. Lol. If you have a good story, please try to give time to create a very nice, eye-catcher story cover before posting it online. Ang mga readers hindi muna yan ma-a-attract sa ano ang story. Natural, sa dami ng magagandang story sa wattpad kailangan bungad pa lang na-attract na ang reader sa una niyang makikita.
If you have the talent in using photoshop and all the crazy stuff na ginagawa ng isang artist, good for you. Hindi ka na mahihirapan na maghanap ng gagawa ng cover mo. Pero kung kagaya ko ikaw na hindi pinagpala sa larangan ng art, you should need someone to do it for you. When I was starting I was using the picture of my characters portrayed by these Hollywood actors then nilalagyan ko na lang ng title. And then I saw those cover na magkatabi yung mga characters eh hindi naman ganon sa original picture. So I asked the help of my sister, she made most of my old covers in my stories such as Sana Akin Ka na Lang, ODS, WY and FM 1 and FM 2. Ako lang ang pumipili ng mga pictures na gagamitin sa photoshop. As you progressed, may ilang readers ka na mag o offer ng nagawa nilang cover para sa story mo.
Plot. Normal na ma fall ang readers sa mga enemies turned to lovers, or lovers turned to enemies type of plot. Kasi kung smooth sailing from the start aba wala ng challenge sa readers yan. Wala naman yatang enemies turned forever enemies unless hindi sila ang protagonists (LOL). I am speaking as a writer under Romance/Non Teen Genre. Hindi ko na po kaya na magbigay ng info about other genre such as paranormal/horror/suspense. Haha. Maybe sa dulo, I will give what a reader expect from this type of genre since ako ay avid fan ng horror/suspense stories.
Back to the topic, wala ka naman ibang pagpipilian na plot maliban sa dalawa na nabanggit ko. Tama ba ako? Correct me if I'm wrong but yun ang madalas na nababasa ko.
Characters. Syempre, ang readers titingin anong klase ba ang characters mo. Ang readers especially ang kabataan ay mahilig ma fall sa GANGSTER/BAD BOY IMAGE. Hehe. Bet na bet nila yan. O kung RICH/FAMOUS/ANAK KA NI AYALA-ZOBEL. Ayan. Bet din nila mga rich. NERDY turned SEXY, isa pang trending sa wattpad. Yung hindi pinansin dati aba siya na ang dyosa ngayon.Si BESTFRIEND na na FRIENDZONED yay. Wala naman yata na writer sa wattpad ang gumagawa ng characters out of tindero/tindera sa palengke sa Divisoria o yung tipong nakatira sa Payatas. O yung magbabalot sa kanto.
This is a fictional story. Kaya nagbabasa ang mga tao ay para makaalis pansamantala doon sa harsh reality at nakaka toxic na problema ng bayan. I think, by creating wonderful characters makaka uplift ka ng spirit nila from time to time. Huwag mo ng sabihin na nag file ng sick leave ang protagonist mo kasi wala na siyang pamasahe at malayo pa sweldo.
LOL. Baka sabihin nila aba kung sila nga namumrublema na sa sweldo nila pati ba naman characters mo poproblemahin pa nila pati pamasahe?
Give some light. Haha. Fictional yet real and yet not so very real. LOL. You'll know when you write your own story.
Update EVERYDAY. Yes. If you are a newbie writer at makikipagsabayan ka sa mga nasa top grossing stories and yet every other week ka nag u update, don't expect to have readers who are going to wait for you to update. Isa sa unang tinitingnan ng mga readers eh kung ILANG PAGES NA ANG NAGAWA MO SA STORY MO. Baka naman nag p-plugging ka, nag p-promote ka pero iisang page pa lang nagagawa mo. WAG GANON. Haha. Be a little sensitive, writers. Kung ikaw ba ang babasa at nag promote sa wall mo o sa inbox mo at nakita mo na iisang page pa lamang o tatlo, babasahin mo ba? I don't read story na sasampu pa lamang ang page. HINDI MARARAMDAMAN NG READERS ANG GANDA NG STORY MO kung iilan pa lamang ang pahina na nagawa mo.
ADD A DESCRIPTION. Yes, add a description of your story. Para alam ng readers ano ba laman niyan. Pag nakita nila na naka 75 pages ka na tapos wala palang description paano sila magkaka interes? Haha. Kaya pala walang nagbabasa ng mga gawa ko before, nakalimutan ko lagyan ng description. So don't commit the mistakes that I did.
IF YOU ARE NOT AN ANNOYING WRITER. Yes. Kung ikaw ay yung writer na nag pm, nagpa pa like every minute of the day, imbes na makuha mo interes niya ang sasabihin sa yo ay desperado ka. And don't do this to yourself. Maraming paraan para maigapang mo ang story mo without begging other people to read your story. IF YOU THINK BY BEGGING THEM THEY WILL READ YOUR STORIES, NAGKAKAMALI KA. Readers respect writers who respect themselves.
