When I found the female she was unconscious and it was just before midnight. I drug her out of the water and lamped the water from her paws and face. I noticed her paws and legs were covered in cuts and the fur was ruffled and torn. I didn’t see any other injuries so I lay beside her and slept.
When she woke I was surprised by how much alertness was in her eyes. I noticed her tensed muscles and her tightened jaw and lips. I knew she was a trained warrior. If I made the wrong move she might kill me.
Instead I stayed low and relaxed all my muscles. I talked to her and she seemed fine, I knew she was likely calculating every movement I made.
Other then she seemed fine. I had talked and she seemed healthy. Exhausted, but healthy.
She dismissed me to sleep and I left her. Her black coat was beautiful and she was strong and determined. I prayed to the ancestors they would grant a peace towards us so we might become mates.
I howled saying I no longer was looking for a mate. I curled in a patch of grass and slept.
