Violet POV
"Is there anything else really to bring?" My mom speaks placing her hands on her hips and looking around the room. My dad shrugged then turned to me on the bed, looking for an answer. My parents have been preparing for my departure from the hospital for the past hour and half, signing off papers and re- addressing the doctor that I can actually leave.
"Its not like I have anything here..." I mumble and close my eyes leaning my head back against the pillows. I hear my mother sigh and address my father,
"Could I have a minute with Violet?" she speaks, my dad must have just nodded because a few moments later I hear the door lightly click shut. This is when I re open my eyes to find my mom sitting in the chair right next to the bed.
"Violet, sweetheart, what's happened?" My mother asks.
"What do you mean what happened? I got into an accident then I was in a coma." I state shrugging my shoulders. She sighs again,
"I meant, you seem angry all the time. You certainly have permission to be angry at the world, it hasn't really been the kindest to you the past month" She laughs quietly before continuing, "but if there is something else that is upsetting you, please tell someone" she finishes, searching my eyes for the answer. She isn't going to get it.
Oh yeah mom, no everything is fine, its just that the man I was falling in love with is in a coma right now and turns out, we never actually were together, nor does he know I exist!
I couldn't even go visit him. If he woke up and saw me there what would he think? Probably something like,
"Who is this chick and why the hell is she here?"
And that would kill me. To have him wake up and not know who I am.
In the back of my mind, I know that it really wasn't him. It wasn't the real Conner I fell for, it was a person I made up in my mind, no wonder why I was falling for him, I made him.
I wasn't going to say that to her though. So I gave her answer that I know would please her,
"Nothing is wrong mom, just ready to head back to school. You know, get back in the swing of things" I force a smile at the end for extra effect. She stares at me for a few more seconds before nodding her head and standing up, smoothing out her pants,
"Well, the Doctor said you're ready, so I guess whenever you want to go, we can."
I nod my head and swing my legs over the side of the stiff mattress. Its been a week now since I have woken up and except for slight headaches throughout the day which I have to take medicine for, I'm pretty much back to normal. Dr. James did say I was only slightly unconscious, so I guess recovery time is a lot quicker.
I follow my mother and father down the corridor of the hospital and get a sick feeling in my stomach as I realize that Conner is in one of these rooms.
In a coma.
Shaking my head, I keep my eyes focused straight forward and walk with my parents out the hospital doors. The sunlight catches me off guard at first, feeling like I am legitimately feeling the suns rays for the first time in a while. It's only February but nevertheless the sun feels great on my skin.
My parents walk around the sidewalk a little before the spot a figure approaching from a car. I squint my eyes towards the person before I make out who it is.
Emmett?
"Violet!" He yells, as he runs forward to me. The minute he gets to me he wraps his arms around my torso and I hug him back as tightly as I can.
