Violet POV

"Not one fucking car" Conner mumbled from the window. We had been sitting here for about a half an hour, I was actually trying to come up with a reasonable conclusion, while he was very interested in the lack of activity from the outside.

"Do you really have to swear right now?" I groaned. I had tried everything, all of my contacts phone numbers, 911, I even tried to see if anyone was online. Absolutely nothing has been posted online, anywhere, for forty minutes. It was as if time had froze. Except that it hadn't. The sun was moving in the sky.  I heard Conner walk over and sit next to me on the bench.

"Oh no, please tell me you aren't one of those goody goody, 'im too good for curse words' type of girl" He said to me and I just flopped my head in my hands,

"No, im just trying to think. What the hell is going on here?" I said, not really to him, just rhetorically. I sighed and leaned back on the wall behind us on the bench. "Where were you when you noticed everyone was gone?" I asked him,

"Sleeping over there" He said and pointed to a bench in the far corner of the museum. "You? Im sure you were too busy studding a painting to notice right?" He asked.

"No, I was in the restroom. And for your information, I didn't want to come to this stupid trip just as much as you. Why are you here anyway?" I asked finally looking over to him. He looked older, well, he was a year older so I guess it fits. His eyes were really blue, but you could only see them when he flicked his hair to the side. Once I noticed this though, I noticed him do it every. thirty. seconds.

"Its a great place to sleep, well, until I realized how many kids would be here" He responded and leaned back also.

"So what do you think we should do?"

He sighed in response then stood up suddenly and looked down to me,

"C'mon." He said and i just looked at him. He sighed again and held out his hand. "Come. On." He said again. I reached out my hand and he pulled me up before taking his hand away. I watched as Conner started heading for the entrance of the museum.

"Where are you going?"

He turned around from his spot at the door to look at me,

"Im hungry and Im in the mood for a free burger, now lets go" He waited for me at the door. Considering the probability of doing anything else at the moment, I joined him outside.

I followed him across the street to the McDonald's, when we entered, I finally spoke up.

"Wait" I said when he hopped over the counter. he spun around to face me, boredom written all over his face.

"What now?"

"Isn't this... like stealing?" I asked and he just laughed, already heading for the kitchen area.

"Who's gonna stop me?" I have never stolen anything in my life. Ever. But at the same time, I think there are bigger problems at the moment then stealing a $1 cheeseburger.

"Do you even know how to make a cheeseburger?"

"Please, do you think they actually make them per order?" He responded and opened this big vault, pulling out four prepared burgers, tossing two to me. I opened my mouth to ask a question but he beat me to it, "before you ask yet another, meaningless question that will only make me slightly more annoyed at you, yes,  I worked here last summer." He walked over and plopped down on a seat, motioning me over.

"So," He started while there was food in his mouth, "Whats goin on here? Is there some music festival I'm missing or something? Is that where you think everyone is?" I groaned when he was done,
