Chapter Five Forever is Crashing Down on Me

Before anyone continues please know that I love you all and this chapter broke my heart and I’ll make everything up to you.

Five days after their first show, a show at a venue near San Diego.

I was laid across the couch, watching a Criminal Minds rerun on the flatscreen. It was sometime after nine in the afternoon, and my phone hadn't gone off in over an hour when I heard a familiar ringtone go off; Dead Memories by Slipknot, Austin.

"Hey, Au-" I was cut off mid word.

"It's Aaron," his voice said, it was small. He was out of breath and panicky almost, something that was odd for Aaron.

"Hey Aaron, why are you on Austin's phone?" I asked, curiosity getting the better of me. I usually didn't ask because the guys always used one anothers phone.

I didn't get an answer but instead heard a lot of voices rushed and talking loudly. It wasn't unusual at a concert. I heard the phone get passed to another being.

"Hey, Devon," I heard Tino say, his voice making me smile. Tino was always able to make me smile.

"Hey, Tino. What's up?"

"That's actually not a fun subject. Look, Alan's on his way to your apartment right now, alright?" he was talking calmly, trying to keep me calm. I knew him well enough to be able to figure things like that out, what his ulterior motive was. "Grab some stuff, your purse, some clothes maybe, simple things like that. When Alan get's there I need you to just get in his car, alright?"

"Uhm, yeah, sure," my voice came out quiet. Something was wrong, and I didn't know what. They never sent someone to get me after a concert, I could always drive there.

"Devon, it's Austin. His heart," I didn't hear anymore of what Tino was saying. I dropped my phone and a sob wreaked havoc through me.

"No, no, no, no. He told me he was alright, he promised, he said that nothing was wrong, he said he felt fine. Oh my god. I have to get to the hospital," I was rambling. I couldn't make a solid thought. I could hear Tino's voice screaming at me to pick up my phone. With shaky hands I managed to pick up my phone from the carpeted floor below, "T-tino?"

"Look, Devon. Alan's on his way, alright? He'll be there in five minutes. Just make sure you have what you need. Austin's already been taken to the hospital. We don't know anything more than that the paramedic said that his heart was having a problem. Just, get in Alan's car when he gets there. Bring your phone, the charger, a sweatshirt, your purse."

"O-okay," I barely breathed out, I was trying to listen to Tino, do what he told me to.

"I'll stay on the phone while you wait for Alan," he said, I muttered an alright and started to gather what I would need. I ran down the hall to my room, digging through my closet to find a sweatshirt of Austin's, a shirt, anything that would bring him closer to me.

I heard the front door open from downstairs, Alan's voice carrying down the hall. He was calling my name, I didn't reply. I said goodbye to Tino just as Alan walked into my room.

"Dev, come on," he said, giving me a sad smile.

"I can't, I can't find his sweatshirt. I need it, Alan, I need to find it," my voice was coming out as a mixture of a sob and a cry, shaking the whole time.

"Dev, I have one of his sweatshirts, he's worn it the past few days, it's in my car, come on," he said, holding his arms out to me. I jumped into his arm and hugged him, crying onto his shoulder. There was no Alan spinning me around, there was no squeal, there was no happiness. He picked me up, grabbing my purse as he walked by it. He shut the front door and carried me to his car waiting in the driveway. He set me down in the passenger seat, opening the back door and putting my bag there.
